Keith
Yeah, I was thinking about, um because I know you know lot of people, do we were we were talking the other day about dove hunting and all that, and I can't wait to learn more about that. But like i I don't even know what a dove looks like.

00:00:11.69
Keith
So, I mean, I've got a great field for for dove hunting, to go shooting. ah But I don't know what they fucking look like. I have no idea.

00:00:18.30
Jeremy
They look like small, they look like small pigeons.

00:00:18.41
Keith
how how How do I hunt them?

00:00:21.40
Buddy
Yeah, exactly.

00:00:22.45
Jeremy
They look small. They look like kind of like pigeons or there's smaller. um And they're not these pigeons.

00:00:27.19
Keith
So you just wait wait in the field until you see one flying around and shoot it?

00:00:31.03
Jeremy
Well, you got to be able to identify it.

00:00:33.42
Keith
That's what I thought.

00:00:33.50
Buddy
Yeah.

00:00:34.57
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:00:34.77
Buddy
and like Unless you just indiscriminately shoot every bird that comes by. Well,

00:00:38.63
Keith
That's what I'm saying.

00:00:38.93
Jeremy
Yes.

00:00:39.27
Keith
I don't know how to do it. So I was like, I'm like, what does one look like? I mean, know my eyesight's not that great.

00:00:44.09
Jeremy
They have a particular shape.

00:00:44.35
Buddy
we...

00:00:44.43
Keith
Oh.

00:00:46.17
Buddy
Yeah, was about to say, it's kind of boomerang kind of shape.

00:00:46.32
Keith
Oh.

00:00:49.36
Buddy
Not really, i mean, that's that's how I pick them out from other birds. like ah Most birds have kind of, not really square wings, but kind of sloped and they're more boomerang-ish.

00:00:53.62
Jeremy
Yeah. um

00:01:00.39
Buddy
And then, you know, when we how we hunt is we, at the end, we go about an hour before dark and sit by a pond and, or two hours before and sit out there and just wait for them to come in and take a drink.

00:01:13.29
Keith
Oh, before before dark. I thought ah I thought dove hunting was all done in the morning.

00:01:15.29
Buddy
Yeah.

00:01:18.10
Jeremy
Well, you have what's called shooting light. um So shooting light, at least here in North Carolina, is typically 30 minutes before

00:01:20.55
Buddy
Yeah.

00:01:26.68
Jeremy
morning nautical or before BMNT, BMNT. So before my morning nautical twilight. So, um, or no. Yeah. Anyway, 30 minutes before sunrise.

00:01:38.48
Jeremy
That's typically legal shooting light in most places.

00:01:42.94
Keith
Right, right. and and And I've seen that on all the dr Missouri hunting ah schedules and all that.

00:01:43.93
Jeremy
Mm

00:01:48.29
Keith
It always says 30 minutes before sunrise and 30 minutes after sunset.

00:01:53.27
Jeremy
hmm.

00:01:53.35
Buddy
Thank you.

00:01:54.20
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:01:55.59
Keith
and And they're talking about really the the safest times to shoot a projectile into the into the woods, basically, without killing somebody.

00:02:03.53
Jeremy
Yeah. I mean, in dove huntings, can um it's um sometimes it can get crowded. Like this last time that we went, we got set up and all the kids had this whole area plotted out.

00:02:18.76
Jeremy
And you pay basically for this dude's field. And there was a lot more people than we were expecting. um And it was this guy's last year of doing this particular hunt. And Um, sun started to rise just to the point where you can kind of see.

00:02:35.25
Jeremy
And we realized that literally 50 yards or less, there was a whole line of dudes that had decided to set up while we were, I guess they set up while we couldn't see.

00:02:40.12
Buddy
ah

00:02:41.45
Keith
Oh, wow.

00:02:46.57
Jeremy
And we turned around and about, I don't know, 75 yards was a, but you know, another bunch of their buddies that had set up directly behind us and they did it on purpose.

00:02:52.04
Buddy
Thank

00:02:58.47
Jeremy
Um,

00:02:58.74
Keith
Well, that does sound safe.

00:03:00.75
Jeremy
It's not, but they know that if they encroach close enough, most people will just get pissed off and leave. And we weren't leaving. And they, I guess they decided they weren't leaving.

00:03:11.04
Jeremy
And when doves would pass by, it was just a free for all, like going absolutely bonkers.

00:03:18.95
Keith
I hadn't even know which one you got.

00:03:19.11
Jeremy
They were, see, that's, that's the hard part when there's that many people involved, like these dudes and knew what they were doing. They were, um they were taking birds that we knew that were ours. And I just got to the point where I was like, yo, I'm, I'm going to go over here by myself to a nice little shaded spot.

00:03:39.37
Jeremy
And i had this whole field to my advantage. There was a couple of people, but way out in the distance. And with birdshot, you're, you're trying to aim up. You're definitely don't want to shoot straight ahead, but you're aiming up.

00:03:51.87
Jeremy
And if you can't aim up, what you can do is take a knee. So you're automatically canted up anyways. And, um, that you will get rained down upon basically by pellets.

00:04:04.43
Jeremy
And they're just tiny little, you know, tiny little pellets and you can hear them sprinkling down like rain.

00:04:07.65
Keith
Yeah, tiny. Right.

00:04:10.89
Jeremy
So, but yeah, it's, it's, ah it's not rocket science, but it's, it's not the easiest thing.

00:04:19.32
Buddy
Yeah, definitely don't want to go when it's crowded for sure.

00:04:19.69
Keith
Yeah. well

00:04:22.13
Jeremy
yeah.

00:04:22.21
Keith
I guess once onces the it wants the but once they're their their forward trajectory and and movement is done, the earth grabs a hold of it and just pulls them all back down on top of you.

00:04:22.29
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:04:34.16
Keith
The little pellets.

00:04:35.30
Jeremy
Yep. That's all it is.

00:04:37.72
Buddy
yeah and if you can get some, ah we call them mojos. They're like doves that, and it looks like their wings are, it's kind of like a ah wind. ah I want to say a wind chime.

00:04:47.60
Keith
Wynne Vane?

00:04:47.85
Buddy
What am I trying to,

00:04:48.44
Keith
Wynne Vane?

00:04:49.86
Buddy
Like a wind vane, yeah. And they're they're shaped like dove and it looks like their wings are flapping. It attracts the other doves in and you can set those out maybe in a field or whatever.

00:04:57.07
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:05:00.06
Buddy
um Yeah, if you ever go on a hunt that, you know, like it's a guided hunt where you pay money or something, they tend to get pissed off and you shoot their mojos.

00:05:01.13
Keith
Hmm.

00:05:01.41
Jeremy
Yep.

00:05:09.00
Buddy
So you might want to shoot above them.

00:05:10.01
Keith
Hmm.

00:05:10.55
Jeremy
Yeah. And we have, we have some people that'll, they take their, um, cause doves really like to like land up high. Um, so they will have their, uh, their decoys tied to fishing line and they'll toss them up and over, a, uh, the, uh, uh, whatchamacallit, uh, no, um, the power lines.

00:05:19.53
Buddy
Yeah.

00:05:30.50
Keith
Like a branch or something.

00:05:34.39
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:05:34.54
Keith
Oh.

00:05:35.37
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:05:36.44
Buddy
So, yeah, we were we were out in a a pond in a field, right? And there was no trees around. It was an open field. It was just a ah ah field drainage pond. And hardly you couldn't, I don't know. I could see trees off in the distance, but there was very, and it was hot that day. I think it was like 108 or nine.

00:05:54.73
Keith
whoo Oh.

00:05:55.54
Buddy
It was brutal, man.

00:05:56.27
Keith
Damn.

00:05:56.54
Buddy
No shade and all these, it was a veteran hunt thing. So it was free for us. And so he put all these other, he put all the paid people in this one place where there was a tree line and in whatever.

00:06:07.92
Buddy
he, he took the veterans over and he goes, Hey, the this will be good, but not until sundown and watch them coming in you know, from the West come in and sit, just sit by the pond. You get, you know, you'll, you won't see any for a while, but when you do, you'll see them.

00:06:22.61
Buddy
And man, did they come in?

00:06:22.92
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:06:24.07
Buddy
They came in hard.

00:06:25.59
Jeremy
Well, this last trip, we didn't see nothing.

00:06:25.85
Buddy
Uh,

00:06:28.77
Jeremy
Like there was barely any birds. I don't know why, but there were, I mean, some places were better, I guess, just because of our location. Maybe we had a lot of thermals going on that day.

00:06:37.83
Keith
the The places that you rent from, do they do they have their birds out there? they bring them in?

00:06:42.79
Jeremy
You talking about the, for the doves?

00:06:44.80
Keith
Yeah, the ones should you the place that you rent, do they bring in doves and do they, you know, they stock it?

00:06:47.92
Jeremy
Oh no, no, no, no. These are, no, you these are wild birds and you have to have a, um,

00:06:51.14
Keith
Oh.

00:06:53.22
Jeremy
You have to have a particular certifications called a hip certification on your hunting license to be able to dove hunt.

00:06:54.08
Buddy
Thank you.

00:06:59.39
Jeremy
And then for migratory birds, you have to have a different certification on your hunting license.

00:07:05.36
Keith
yeah Maybe I just go out to my field and um I got a three and a half acre field out there that's got, you know, chest high or taller grass. And I left it that way on purpose for the deer to have a hiding spot, get get up in there and um maybe just grow up there one morning before the sun rises and take a look at what's happening.

00:07:17.69
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:07:23.36
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:07:23.43
Buddy
They like grain fields too, like maize, some kind of grain field. they'll They'll come in, they'll feed on the grain and then come in and water down. So if you can get somewhere in between a grain field and and a water source, it's usually pretty good luck, but at least for me.

00:07:45.78
Keith
Oh, that's what a dub looks like. You just sent me a picture.

00:07:48.26
Jeremy
Yeah. I mean, there's a couple of different, and you know, different types, but that is, ah Commonly referred to as a black ring or a black tip um dove. um And then this one is what's called a mourning dove.

00:08:03.73
Jeremy
And they spell it M-O-U-R-N-I-N-G, not like in the morning. So when you sometimes when you see weddings or you see ah funerals, they have mourning doves or white doves.

00:08:21.00
Keith
I don't know what the hell's going on with her car. do You hear that?

00:08:23.96
Buddy
Yeah, was going to say, where are you at the...

00:08:24.90
Keith
I don't know what that It's the second time that's happened today. Her car just starts to, the horn horn just starts to go.

00:08:31.13
Buddy
Batteries going down, maybe?

00:08:34.07
Keith
i don't know. So she she runs out there and gets it to stop, but that's second time it's happened. I ran up there before I had grabbed my gun off the wall. What the fuck's going on out there?

00:08:42.11
Jeremy
Yeah. wonder if you got a short or a parasitic bleed.

00:08:46.58
Keith
ah what? what?

00:08:48.06
Jeremy
paris a Parasitic

00:08:51.12
Keith
That sounds medical.

00:08:51.45
Jeremy
parasitic bleed. Yeah. So it's actually one of the indicators of a short. It's kind of like you you there's no real reason why your battery would go dead, but it's going dead. And sometimes what you'll find is a so very, very small piece of wire within the car somewhere has been exposed and is getting grounded.

00:09:12.26
Keith
Uh.

00:09:12.36
Jeremy
And it's draining energy from the car.

00:09:16.50
Keith
Huh.

00:09:17.16
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:09:18.29
Buddy
I had a truck back in the day when you you'd buy ah a alarm system and put it on, you know, aftermarket whatever. And as soon as the battery would, if the battery started going down, it would it would beep like that.

00:09:32.22
Buddy
So, depends, I don't know.

00:09:32.95
Jeremy
Yeah,

00:09:34.96
Buddy
I guess it would depend on the model. But it was that was back in the mid-90s, maybe.

00:09:40.81
Jeremy
man.

00:09:41.71
Buddy
Maybe.

00:09:41.87
Keith
Well, any second now, these dogs will calm down and we can actually start talking about what the episode tonight is about. I'm thinking it's a one year in review. what we're doing tonight?

00:09:53.27
Buddy
Yeah.

00:09:53.86
Jeremy
yeah man

00:09:55.50
Keith
So one year ago, basically right about now, I think it was like the 23rd of September. Hold on a whole last second. Yeah, I want shut the up. up

00:10:07.34
Jeremy
Nice.

00:10:07.60
Keith
right They're right above me. Yeah. Anyway, ah yeah, about a year ago, I think it was the 23rd is when we came back on the air. In the opener, I'll say it this way.

00:10:21.48
Keith
In the opener, I played a couple of little sound bites, which I'm going to put on there later. ah Just to kind set the mood. um But I figured you guys wanted to do some sort of a year in review where we have like maybe pick a couple, two or three of our favorite episodes over the past year. Right.

00:10:37.11
Jeremy
Yeah. Hmm.

00:10:38.11
Buddy
That's what I was thinking. Yep.

00:10:39.04
Keith
And maybe just discuss, maybe, maybe talk a little bit about how the next 12 months are going to go. First of all, let me say this. I did listen to the very first episode of coming back. Um, tops us back is the title of it.

00:10:52.95
Keith
I think it was one 61, one 62, something like that. Um, um And we mentioned in it that we weren't going to be a weekly podcast. We said we're going to be an every other week podcast with occasionally dropping something every once in a while in between them just to kind of spice things up.

00:11:12.37
Keith
But we quickly learned. I mean, and what I mean quickly, I mean, first episode, we learned that there was way too much content to talk about to to let them go twice a month every two weeks.

00:11:25.30
Jeremy
yeah

00:11:25.63
Keith
It just way too much. We have, we have so much content we're doing right now that we could probably do two episodes a week. I mean, it's ridiculous. Crazy.

00:11:35.63
Jeremy
yeah

00:11:38.36
Buddy
Yeah, it's...

00:11:38.46
Keith
And I think that really comes down to getting people on, you know, like, uh, you know, you know, like all these shows that are Monday through Friday, like the big ones, you know, uh, can't Candace Owens and, you know, ah who's the, uh, all the big ones.

00:11:38.96
Buddy
ah

00:11:51.22
Keith
Right. So ah Joe Rogan. So these people have like a lot of guests on and that is how they get five episodes a week. They're actual shows where they are scheduled months in advance, you know, that kind thing.

00:12:03.15
Jeremy
Yeah. Yeah. But you're also talking, you know, such a production the the post editing is like a full time job, you know?

00:12:13.40
Keith
Oh, it's all, it's, they have a whole crew.

00:12:15.34
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:12:15.40
Keith
These, these big ones have whole entire, you know, even like some of the big, like, um, I like to listen to Wes Gerber who does the, uh, the, the Sasquatch Chronicles and he's upwards of like 1200 episodes.

00:12:28.41
Keith
Now it's massive, you know, he does two a week and, uh, but he's got, he's got a crew too. And even back in the beginning when he was like on episode two and 300, he still had his brother and like his cousin helping him, you know, doing posts and doing different things.

00:12:41.68
Jeremy
Mm-hmm.

00:12:43.73
Keith
um Yeah, I can't stand him.

00:12:43.99
Buddy
Yeah, didn't he have the the the guy from, ah oh, man. ah It's going to come to me.

00:12:51.73
Keith
I know.

00:12:51.82
Buddy
ah

00:12:51.93
Keith
lot know to tony tony ah Tony something.

00:12:52.86
Buddy
Yeah. Merkel, Tony Merkel.

00:12:55.21
Keith
Tony Merkel. Yeah, I don't like Tony Merkel.

00:12:56.73
Buddy
Yeah, we might ah we might not put that on there. Okay.

00:12:59.34
Keith
He's all right. i'm not Look, I'm not going to talk bad about somebody on a podcast, but I just... i just Man, it's all ah it's always about Tony. And that's cool. If Tony wants to roll that way, that's cool. You know, just...

00:13:11.52
Keith
yeah I like when you bring a guest on, you let the guest talk. That's just me.

00:13:15.61
Buddy
Yeah.

00:13:15.92
Keith
Lots of people do different things. I'm not putting anybody down. just saying, that's just me. i'm I'm always screaming at my speaker, like, let the let the guest talk, man. Shut up.

00:13:26.71
Keith
um I'm listening to the show tonight to hear your guest, not you. You know, that that's me screaming, and I hear from the other room, hey, if you get your heart rate heart rate's up, you better turn that thing off, you know.

00:13:40.90
Keith
That's just me. I get irritated quick.

00:13:43.41
Jeremy
No way.

00:13:43.42
Buddy
Yeah, I think we i think we we came in cautious, and then once we got ah couple under our belt, we were like, let's do it.

00:13:43.70
Keith
I'm intense.

00:13:51.76
Buddy
Let's just go in with it.

00:13:53.24
Jeremy
Yeah. Yeah. I think right when we got, we got started and I actually heard my voice on the first recording, I realized just how much I hated my own voice.

00:14:02.17
Buddy
Oh, my God, yes. Yeah.

00:14:03.86
Jeremy
It's when I,

00:14:04.14
Keith
Everybody does.

00:14:05.60
Jeremy
what I think it's like, and it's still when I hear myself, I'm like, why the hell do I sound like that?

00:14:05.73
Buddy
Yeah.

00:14:08.63
Buddy
wait

00:14:09.76
Jeremy
I'm 48. Why do I sound like a middle-aged or a middle school you know kid talking on this stupid thing?

00:14:13.96
Buddy
Wait a minute. You said every, everybody does like, isn't everybody doesn't like their voice or everybody doesn't like Jeremy's voice.

00:14:17.31
Keith
Everybody does it. Everybody.

00:14:22.06
Keith
no, no.

00:14:24.49
Jeremy
i have no doubt in my mind.

00:14:24.71
Keith
Well, it just depends on is Jeremy with us tonight? Because if he wasn't, then we can talk about No, I'm just kidding.

00:14:31.00
Jeremy
Right, right, right.

00:14:31.19
Buddy
Yeah, that's right.

00:14:31.38
Keith
Look, no, it's everybody.

00:14:31.71
Buddy
Yeah.

00:14:32.90
Keith
It's everybody. because Because everybody hears their own voice through.

00:14:33.88
Buddy
Yeah.

00:14:36.86
Keith
Look, a couple weeks back, and I've got to go again and in another month or so.

00:14:39.66
Jeremy
Mm-hmm.

00:14:40.39
Keith
I had to get a hearing test done because my hearing was messed up from that whatever the hell happened, my infection.

00:14:45.91
Buddy
What'd you just say?

00:14:45.99
Keith
And Yeah, exactly.

00:14:48.38
Buddy
Yeah.

00:14:48.82
Keith
And ah so I went to this doctor and we're not talking about one of those things where they put a little headphone on you and they make a little sound and you you know you put your thumb up or whatever. This was a very serious hearing test. Like they put me in a and like a scientifically enclosed room with you know, ah complete padding. Nobody like she was on the other side of a window talking and I couldn't even hear anything. It was absolute silence.

00:15:11.36
Keith
And they put the hit the headphones on you and they start doing these tones. Then they start doing letters and numbers and words. And like, when I say this word, you do this, you do that. It was a long, like 30 minute test.

00:15:24.54
Keith
And then they put another set of headphones on sideways. One goes on your like on your temple and one goes on the back of your head while the other headphones are on. And what that's doing is that's sending ah sound waves in that go through your bone.

00:15:41.48
Keith
And then the sound travels through your bone to your ear. And you have to test that because there's a whole process of that type of hearing as well. You hear two ways through your ears and through vibration, vibrations through your bone.

00:15:54.02
Keith
Well, that's how you hear your voice. You don't hear your voice through your ears.

00:15:57.22
Buddy
Wow.

00:15:59.57
Keith
You hear your voice through your bones. So when you, when you record, it was really, it was really good.

00:16:02.84
Buddy
Sounds like your your test was, yeah, go ahead. ah

00:16:06.47
Keith
So when you, when you, when you hear yourself back on a, on a recording, you're hearing what other people actually hear, not what you're used to hearing.

00:16:16.55
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:16:16.90
Keith
That's why you sound so weird. That's the, that's the technical scientific reason for it. It's the truth.

00:16:24.13
Jeremy
Yeah. Yeah, and and I know that, and I've talked about them before, but one of the reasons why I like the Shox headsets so much is because I actually hate wearing my own hearing aids.

00:16:35.30
Jeremy
um Even though I know I need to wear them, I absolutely detest hearing them. But the great thing about the Shox or the open ear headset concept is it's it's vibrating your bone, right, all the way down to the colloquial tube in the tympanic membrane.

00:16:52.65
Jeremy
And that's actually your ear.

00:16:52.86
Keith
Yep.

00:16:54.81
Jeremy
the vibration is what you're hearing.

00:16:57.29
Keith
Right.

00:16:57.55
Jeremy
Um, and because you don't have something actually in your ear to block it, I still have situational awareness around me. That's why I like them so much.

00:17:04.98
Keith
Hmm.

00:17:05.71
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:17:06.11
Keith
So you're able to do spatial hearing with those. Is that like some kind of specialized hearing aid?

00:17:11.68
Jeremy
No, no, no, no. Um, they're the originating company, in which we have them is called shocks S H a or S H O K z Um, and now there's several other, um,

00:17:24.03
Jeremy
ah companies that make them like Raycon makes them There's a couple of off brands that you can find on you know Amazon, but they're over the ear. Typically they're bone conducting and they're open ear. So, you know, I can, let's just say I was just in Walmart and um i can have music going and hear, you know, and talk to the the clerk at the same time.

00:17:45.19
Jeremy
So.

00:17:45.31
Keith
Oh, I see what you're saying. So they're actually not, they're not inside your ear hole.

00:17:50.41
Jeremy
Nope.

00:17:51.29
Keith
They're on the outside on the bone.

00:17:52.44
Jeremy
Yes. Yeah.

00:17:53.46
Keith
Very cool. Yeah, that's cool.

00:17:54.61
Jeremy
Yeah. Yep. um And these ones.

00:17:56.68
Keith
yeah and you Yeah. And you got, you got your hearing messed up from an explosion, right? During the war.

00:18:00.89
Jeremy
Many.

00:18:02.96
Keith
Oh, many.

00:18:03.56
Jeremy
25 years worth of explosions.

00:18:03.55
Keith
Yeah.

00:18:03.65
Buddy
Yeah. yeah Pick one.

00:18:06.14
Jeremy
Yeah, pick one. um i I have severe tinnitus on my left, in my left ear, and I have a lot of loss in my right ear. So for you years, I was lopsided.

00:18:18.29
Jeremy
So it's kind of like going in circles, basically. I had too much sound. on one side, but not enough sound on the other.

00:18:25.27
Keith
No, I know exactly what you're saying because when I blew out my left eardrum and I was only hearing through my right, that you know, like a few months back last year, and had to go to the doctor for and all that.

00:18:27.15
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:18:35.49
Keith
My left ear, i have bad tinnitus and my left ear was here was where where all the tinnitus was.

00:18:41.06
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:18:41.02
Keith
So I was always walking around lopsided and I hated it, man. it It's horrible. I mean, just, you know, make them both even, you know what saying?

00:18:48.18
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:18:48.83
Keith
going to, you're going to have one go out, make them both go out shit.

00:18:52.00
Jeremy
Yeah. Yeah. I've, um, I've ruptured both of my eardrums at, not at once, but at separate times. And then it was my own fault. Um, was it last year or the year before ah got sick and my ears were really, really overloaded with just gunk and I had a lot of pressure.

00:19:10.64
Jeremy
So i tried to do what's called the diver's clear and pinch your nose basically. And you try to

00:19:15.33
Keith
Oh, it's so bad for you, dude

00:19:15.90
Buddy
Oh, oh.

00:19:17.13
Jeremy
I know, but you try to slowly push, you know, air through the nasal passage to the ear and it wouldn't pop.

00:19:19.64
Keith
Yep.

00:19:23.25
Jeremy
And I got super frustrated. And all of a sudden i was just like rolling in pain, screaming. And, um it was just a massive amount of pain pressure.

00:19:30.26
Keith
Mm.

00:19:34.83
Jeremy
and I went to the ER and, uh, the doc was like, well, first of all, you're stupid. Second of all, you completely, you completely ruptured your, your eardrum. It's, it's ruptured.

00:19:43.66
Buddy
Oh, shit.

00:19:44.72
Keith
And this is how a podcast goes off the rails.

00:19:46.09
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:19:48.48
Jeremy
Yes.

00:19:50.68
Keith
look that it's It's just how it goes.

00:19:51.70
Buddy
Yeah.

00:19:52.92
Keith
I don't like the way my voice sounds. And now we're in a freaking hospital room talking about ear surgery and shit.

00:19:57.83
Jeremy
Exactly, man.

00:19:58.21
Keith
It's like, yeah.

00:19:58.71
Jeremy
It was terrible. Yeah. Yeah. But yeah, I mean, um year in review, man. I can't even believe it's been a year. It's i don't know if it feels longer or shorter.

00:20:09.76
Keith
Super fast. Yeah, super fast. And, you know, we had things like, uh, we had things like the, the, well, the election, you know, that was a pretty big, pretty big deal.

00:20:16.36
Jeremy
Mm hmm.

00:20:18.27
Keith
And although, ah you know, and and I'm a Trump fan, I know not everybody is, I am, uh, I, the way I look at it is he's done so many of the things that I wanted him to do. Not saying he did all the things, everybody, most of the things that it almost feels like he's been in office more than what?

00:20:34.08
Keith
10 months, nine months.

00:20:35.55
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:20:35.83
Keith
That's it. Nine months.

00:20:36.64
Jeremy
Yeah. Yeah.

00:20:38.64
Keith
It's a three and a half years left.

00:20:40.74
Jeremy
I know.

00:20:41.62
Keith
And we had the, uh, we had, you know, Los Angeles basically burning to the ground. mean, that's, that was a big deal. I'm sure they're still struggling out there. Lots of things happened and we're recording this. we We don't normally record the day before we drop it, but we're going to be right now to the listeners who are listening. We were recording this yesterday, Thursday, and today, Friday that you're listening is the day that you're going to find out what three a Atlas is.

00:21:06.16
Keith
it's so it's because it's going to be passing Mars and they're gonna be taking pictures of it to today.

00:21:11.21
Jeremy
Was it today?

00:21:11.42
Keith
So, well, it's next month too.

00:21:11.65
Jeremy
I thought it was next month for some reason. I don't know why, but I... okay, okay.

00:21:15.51
Keith
It's this, um it passes by March or is it Schubert?

00:21:16.23
Jeremy
Okay.

00:21:20.70
Keith
No, it's March. It already passed Schubert.

00:21:22.27
Jeremy
Okay.

00:21:22.24
Keith
It's going to pass by March, Mars on Friday. And then it's going to, in October, it's going to go to its, what they call it? Yeah. I forget what it's called now, ah but it's going to go behind the sun and we won't be able to see it until next year.

00:21:34.91
Jeremy
Mm-hmm.

00:21:37.19
Keith
March is when we're going to be able to see it again.

00:21:39.52
Jeremy
Right.

00:21:40.69
Keith
So yeah.

00:21:40.90
Jeremy
Okay. Yeah. yeah

00:21:43.63
Keith
Perihelium. Perihelium is when an object goes on the opposite side from us. The closest that it will get. Actually, i think it's, I think it's the closest it will get to the sun is what perihelium is. I'll have to look it up.

00:21:57.81
Keith
ah That's when it makes its bend. When the, gravitational pull of the sun is so strong that it whips it around. I'm pretty sure that's what perihelion means, but that's when it happens is like in October. So yeah, sometime today, tonight, whenever you're listening to this, and maybe if you're listening to this Saturday morning, you're going to wake up this morning and find out what three atlas is.

00:22:16.30
Keith
You know, is it a, is it a doom spacecraft coming from another solar system?

00:22:16.77
Jeremy
Hmm.

00:22:22.60
Keith
Is it spacecraft coming from another solar system? Say hi. Is rock? Is comet? Is it a comet? Did it hit Mars? We don't even know right now.

00:22:31.12
Jeremy
Hmm. Maybe it'll swing by and pick up all the jackasses off our planet.

00:22:32.48
Keith
So

00:22:36.37
Keith
I'm sure that people right now, like, come get get me, pick me up, beat me up. I'm ready to

00:22:43.04
Jeremy
Yeah, this place is this place is starting to suck. Let's get out of here. Yeah.

00:22:49.03
Keith
So, yeah.

00:22:49.09
Jeremy
So.

00:22:49.84
Keith
ah So, yeah. Anyway, so how do you guys want to do this? We're not going to make this a super long video or podcast. How do y'all want to do this podcast tonight?

00:22:56.90
Jeremy
I just say we go over our top three.

00:22:59.34
Keith
top three. I will give you my first top three, my first of the top three, and then you guys can tell me your first. um i hold on.

00:23:11.31
Keith
and For some reason I closed it.

00:23:15.51
Keith
Some reason I closed it out. know why I did that. There go. All right. So, ah my, my first one in my top three, when I say top three, I mean, I probably could have found stuff in some of the other episodes that was, um, uh, that was more, um, educational for prepper survivalist type of things.

00:23:33.71
Keith
But just for me personally, these are, these are some of the ones that I've just happened to enjoy.

00:23:36.67
Buddy
Thank

00:23:38.61
Keith
So number one, and I'll stick to that. You guys can do your thing is episode one 61 it's reality check. And of course, this is when Jeremy learned the hard way

00:23:49.06
Jeremy
yeah

00:23:49.52
Keith
about not being or being underprepared, not being prepared, but being underprepared while taking a trip with his mom to the mountains. And I, for some reason, I just, I look back over the and I remember that episode. I liked it.

00:24:01.70
Jeremy
Well, now I have to find a new one because you you took one from me.

00:24:01.78
Keith
ah The visuals, you know, oh you

00:24:08.47
Keith
well, I actually picked four. So I'm going to let you have that one.

00:24:11.22
Jeremy
Okay.

00:24:11.42
Keith
How about that?

00:24:11.85
Jeremy
Got it. I got it.

00:24:12.21
Keith
I'll let you have that one. So go ahead and talk about your 161.

00:24:13.56
Jeremy
Nice.

00:24:15.43
Keith
did you like it? but why did you like it

00:24:16.85
Jeremy
Oh, man. Um, well, because I got to tell them myself, you know, um, a lot of people who listen, I, when I listen to podcasts, I expect that the person or people that I'm listening to are, you know, somewhat of a subject matter expert in that particular thing, or they're experienced.

00:24:35.95
Jeremy
And, um, I believe that all three of us are, but I got to tell them myself, um, that, you know, I was, I took a trip with mom and I was grossly unprepared. Um,

00:24:47.38
Jeremy
Some things went really you know good from learning from it all. I'm actually being in a no kidding, you know the shit has hit the fan disaster. um And then chiding myself for not having what I would normally have.

00:25:03.31
Jeremy
um And then making sure that if I ever had to go do it again, that that's that's never going to happen to me again.

00:25:11.73
Keith
I was immersed in the story. I know that i have I have some skin in the game because you're a host on the podcast and I want to hear your story anyway.

00:25:17.48
Buddy
Thank

00:25:21.72
Keith
But I was envisioning in my head the the picture of what you were describing.

00:25:21.83
Jeremy
yeah

00:25:26.77
Keith
And I was thinking of you know everything from... uh from the walking dead to you know the world ends kind of a kind of but kind of a thing and it's just uh the way that you know i was in there like how you guys were having to clean your own dishes you know and stuff like that and you know how your mom was in the going hey no where where are you going i'll come with you no no just stay here it was all these different the visuals of you of you're telling me about them up on the uh the overpass of the people in the fog there you know there's a lot to it that that it it immersed me into the story which is what i liked

00:25:34.21
Jeremy
yep

00:25:40.73
Jeremy
ye

00:25:57.54
Jeremy
The best picture I think that I posted on the, on the Facebook page to describe the aftermath part of desperation of people is the one that I took a picture and you're looking down the road and you see the actual overpass and that, that overpass overpasses is the Blue Ridge Parkway.

00:26:16.26
Jeremy
And you see people in the fog and in the mist and they're holding their phone up, you know, up trying to find signal that, that image will be burned in my brain for the rest of my life because they, they literally,

00:26:29.65
Buddy
Man, isn't isn't that like the theme the theme of the whole thing, man, you know?

00:26:29.76
Keith
that's That's a cool image, yeah.

00:26:34.89
Jeremy
yeah they literally looked like, so it looked, it looked like a scene out of the walking dead. And, um, I think the biggest part that I have to chide myself on, like if I, if I was to go back and, you know, tell myself, Hey dummy, you should have done this.

00:26:54.38
Jeremy
I would have had at least one of my bow fangs with me. I would have had at least one of my bow fangs. um Because I have ah an app on my phone and that will pick up on local repeaters.

00:27:07.91
Jeremy
And knowing that the fact that I did have signal directly in front of the hotel, i could have queued in on one of those repeater frequencies and tones and but you know gotten on the radio Much like the guy in you know, little, little Germany.

00:27:25.75
Jeremy
um I was within, well, of course the road was gone, but had I been able to get to them little Switzerland was less than the 10 minute walk. um

00:27:35.39
Keith
Oh, i know you had i know you had a ah plenty of times where you were kicking yourself in the in the head.

00:27:41.87
Jeremy
Oh yeah, absolutely.

00:27:42.02
Keith
You were like, what in the heck did I do? what i mean, seriously.

00:27:44.96
Jeremy
Yeah. Yeah.

00:27:46.43
Keith
and And that's kind of what I think about when I prep for a trip is thinking, I don't want to be that guy. that talks about prepping, but wasn't prepped when the time came, when I'm too lazy to put my gun on, when I'm going down to, down to Walmart.

00:27:55.99
Jeremy
yeah

00:27:59.97
Keith
And I'm like, no, I'm i'm not going to be, I'm going to be the person who's prepared. I'm not going to, I'm not going to come back next week and have to talk about how I wasn't there. Couldn't say the day or got shot or something. You know, it's just, that's, that's what it is, man.

00:28:11.94
Jeremy
Yeah. I mean, what, what like one good thing was, is that one, I did have a gun with me. Um, and I was able to provide some small measure of security to the people in the hotel, the own, one of the guys that worked at the hotel, he didn't know anything about guns and he actually had a pistol in their office that someone had left behind.

00:28:32.20
Jeremy
And I showed him how to, yeah, it's, it's happened before.

00:28:33.11
Keith
That's a damn irresponsible.

00:28:37.08
Jeremy
gonna lie. um um But um the I showed him how to unload it, how to clear it, um you know how to generally utilize it. But he was, and I don't know why, it's probably because he' he's originally from Washington State, nothing on him, but um he was actually scared of it. like He didn't understand the fact that without being put into function by human hands, guns don't actually function. They don't do anything. They just sit there.

00:29:05.75
Jeremy
um And so I was able to provide some measure of um of of security, but also um they had a couple of small, just basically transistor radios just to receive.

00:29:20.89
Jeremy
And I was able to finally pick up on a NOAA channel that was actually being pushed from South Carolina because we actually physically watched some of the radio towers going down in the mountains. you could sit You could see them physically falling over.

00:29:35.77
Keith
Going into the weeds.

00:29:37.93
Jeremy
yeah yeah I know but yeah I mean but i i kind of get wrapped back up in it because it was such an impactful moment but also ah i think it was probably a pretty impactful episode for me at least

00:29:40.10
Keith
but We're going into the weeds. so ah we're not We're not reliving the the episode. I'm just saying.

00:29:50.19
Keith
I know.

00:29:57.12
Buddy
Well, it's, it's actually my number two.

00:29:57.16
Keith
It was.

00:30:00.04
Buddy
Um, man, it was, it was one of the times I just shut up.

00:30:00.15
Jeremy
is it

00:30:05.15
Buddy
I think I was asking if I remember right a couple times, are you's still there, buddy? And I'm like, yeah, yeah.

00:30:08.97
Jeremy
yeah

00:30:10.42
Buddy
I'm just taking a shit in.

00:30:10.65
Jeremy
I think that that episode

00:30:11.97
Buddy
And I listened to it more. I listened to it three times, man.

00:30:14.64
Jeremy
yeah i think that episode actually probably could have been about, if i if I had really flowed, it probably could have been about two to two and a half hours.

00:30:14.81
Buddy
Um,

00:30:22.84
Buddy
Well, there were so many lessons to be had out of that, you know, at your expense, but, um, you know, it, it changed up a way and we were teaching at the time, you know, the radio classes and, uh, I had written out some curriculum for, uh, basically how to use your, the radio when you're traveling.

00:30:24.51
Jeremy
Yeah. Yeah.

00:30:42.91
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:30:44.47
Buddy
And I'd written out some, and I was in the middle of it kind of towards the end of it. And, one of the things that was on the curriculum, uh, was to do, to go out and find your repeaters. And, and just like you, you know, I have a GMRS app. I think that's probably what you use.

00:31:01.92
Buddy
And I knew all the repeaters, but, and I'll write the repeaters down as I travel on my, you know, area study before I go places. And ah I was, sometimes I, I've done it to where I just, I got weak, man.

00:31:15.94
Buddy
I just, you know, I didn't, I just didn't want to do it or it just took too long or whatever.

00:31:19.94
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:31:21.08
Buddy
But, Now it's it's common practice. It's definitely, and I always have one or two radios with me, depending on who's traveling.

00:31:23.98
Jeremy
yeah

00:31:29.40
Buddy
Sometimes I have up to five or six, but if I have people traveling with me, but yeah, it was definitely at your expense, man.

00:31:31.56
Jeremy
yeah

00:31:36.54
Buddy
I mean, it was, it was my second favorite episode this last year. So.

00:31:41.91
Jeremy
Yeah, I'll put it to you this way. Coming back from well going on that cruise we just took last week, I actually had two Balfangs with me on the cruise. but

00:31:48.50
Buddy
Oh, nice.

00:31:50.54
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:31:50.55
Buddy
you know I mean, shit, you never know.

00:31:53.02
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:31:53.36
Buddy
You really, you don't, man. You just don't know.

00:31:56.08
Jeremy
what was your What was your second one, Keith?

00:32:01.39
Keith
Oh, okay. So yeah, my second one was, and I don't have these in any order of preference. I just, I just named off a three, actually four, because I was afraid someone's got the same one.

00:32:09.40
Jeremy
Right.

00:32:09.80
Keith
um 172.

00:32:11.85
Jeremy
okay

00:32:12.02
Keith
Home security with Scotty from Texas. I liked it. I mean, look, anytime you get to think about and talk about weapons, especially guns, but, you know, weapons in general, self-defense, I'm down for it.

00:32:24.79
Keith
I mean, it's always it's always fun, especially when you bring on somebody who, you know, no offense, but you we talk all the time with each other.

00:32:26.98
Buddy
yeah

00:32:30.86
Keith
We spring on somebody different, you know, a different voice there, different yeah reality and all that. and Yeah, Scotty's good guy. We need to get him back on again.

00:32:39.24
Buddy
Definitely.

00:32:39.25
Jeremy
man

00:32:39.97
Buddy
Yeah. And I've actually talked to Scotty little bit. Periodically, we we we keep in touch and and he's he's ready to come back on. So whenever whenever we're ready, he's ready.

00:32:48.12
Keith
Cool. Yeah.

00:32:50.52
Jeremy
yeah I think the the one that I liked about that one the best is talking about the reality of whether or not you could mentally and emotionally handle ah potentially you know defending your house in a lethal manner.

00:33:03.93
Jeremy
that was That was a big part of that.

00:33:04.10
Buddy
Yeah.

00:33:07.82
Buddy
Yeah, that was a good one.

00:33:09.17
Keith
Yeah. Yeah. So Scott, he's on there. ah ah Go ahead, Jeremy. Tell us your, your number two.

00:33:17.04
Jeremy
ah Number two for me is 167, Winter is Coming. I really like that one um because, well, one, we're we're kind of, we're on the edge of it again going into winter.

00:33:30.17
Jeremy
um But I think it's because I prefer the winter nowadays as I get older. um And it was really good because,

00:33:41.72
Jeremy
You could go down so many different rabbit holes, but we were able to pitch the the kind of the, what is what do you really need in your home? How are you going to get through the winter in case something happens and that kind of thing. So I really liked that one. 167.

00:33:55.91
Buddy
Yeah. I listened to that again the other day. Um, and I don't know why I didn't list it. Um, I think I didn't like it myself cause I rambled. So

00:34:05.47
Keith
What number did you say that one was?

00:34:06.93
Jeremy
one sixty seven

00:34:08.19
Buddy
yeah, that was a good one.

00:34:11.70
Buddy
It's an honorable, but honorable mention for me, ah I guess basically it it wasn't in my top three, but yeah, it was very, it was packed full. It should have been two, maybe three episodes. It was so packed full. So, um,

00:34:21.97
Jeremy
Oh, yeah.

00:34:23.95
Buddy
We're going to have to recreate it with some updated info, I think.

00:34:26.87
Jeremy
Yeah, I think so, too.

00:34:30.36
Buddy
Well, well, well, I've, um, you guys got my number two already. Um, but my, my first one is master to disaster. That was our first podcast that it is one 59.

00:34:45.19
Keith
master the disaster. I just looked at that one today too, this morning.

00:34:48.57
Buddy
that That was full of good information, and you could just hear it in our voices that we were s stoked to do this, you know?

00:34:56.62
Keith
That was, isn't that the one where we're trying to think about what, why the different ways people, the different reasons people prep.

00:35:03.51
Buddy
Yeah, yeah.

00:35:04.12
Keith
Yeah. Yeah.

00:35:04.61
Jeremy
yeah

00:35:04.62
Keith
Yeah.

00:35:06.08
Buddy
And I think, you know, from a standpoint, and it might not be the listener's favorite one, But from a standpoint of ah a podcaster, it was fun to put together, fun to research, fun to do.

00:35:18.78
Buddy
And it sounded like we had a lot of fun doing it. So I think there was a lot of passion behind it. At least that's what I heard in our voices. So that was that was my number one. And number two is Jeremy's reality check.

00:35:30.91
Buddy
Definitely. that was Those are two good ones.

00:35:32.55
Keith
nice nice uh okay so my number well i guess i'm gonna call it number two now would be am i am i two or three want to uh is 197 the get home challenge

00:35:46.17
Jeremy
Damn it, man.

00:35:47.65
Buddy
but

00:35:48.15
Keith
what why why would you have why would you have picked that one

00:35:51.62
Jeremy
i really liked that one. i thought

00:35:53.67
Buddy
Great minds. Yeah.

00:35:54.71
Jeremy
Well, I think it was a lot of fun. yeah.

00:35:58.35
Keith
because on

00:36:11.35
Keith
the midday sun was noticeably hotter than usual, right? As I stepped out of my car in the store parking lot. And uneasy feeling grew in my gut. I'm gonna play I left the house in a hurry having only my EDC.

00:36:23.16
Buddy
Yeah, you need to add it in there to the...

00:36:23.59
Keith
But I had my wallet and this should only take a few minutes. Oh yeah it'll sound better.

00:36:30.76
Keith
One of the girls behind the counter greeted me as I stepped in, and the automatic doors closed behind me. Hello. Let us know if you need help finding something. But before I had a chance to respond to them, loud booming clunk startled us and the store went dark and silent.

00:36:47.09
Keith
Oh, that's not good. What just happened? What do we do? Don't worry. The backup generator will kick on in a minute. Grab your store keys and get those doors open. I'm already on it. We'll keep these doors open until the power comes back on.

00:36:59.78
Keith
Should just be a few minutes. You sure about that? My phone. It's not working. I'll try restarting it. And I'll go out to my truck and plug it in Maybe the battery is dead. What the hell?

00:37:12.82
Keith
My door locks aren't working either. Let me try the key.

00:37:18.57
Keith
Shit, no power, no click, no battery, nothing.

00:37:20.97
Jeremy
yeah

00:37:21.77
Keith
Okay, let me think for a minute. I see the two cashier girls come out front for a smoke, frantically trying to work their phones. They start to argue about what to do next.

00:37:33.98
Keith
If yours isn't working either, how do we get a hold of the boss? I don't know. We should just go. Come on. Just wait a second, sir. Have y'all checked your cars yet? Are they working? No, we get dropped off.

00:37:44.92
Keith
Our phone... Oh, shit, what happened?

00:37:47.95
Jeremy
I don't know, but.

00:37:48.06
Keith
dropped off our phones won't work so we can't call for them to come get us can you give us a ride home it's not far i wish i could really but that truck ain't going anywhere look around no power no phones no cars on the road as far as i can tell we're This is not happening right now. You're saying we should start walking? I'm saying if home is your safe place, you need to get there as quickly as possible.

00:38:12.37
Keith
Don't stop unless you need a break and avoid other people if you can. this is what I think it is, then this store is a target and you're not safe here. Go back inside, get your stuff, grab some drinks and snacks and start walking.

00:38:26.23
Keith
I'm going east, which is that way. You can walk with me if you're going that way. No, we live the other way, just a few miles. Are we really doing this? Yep. Let's get our shit and go if we're gonna go.

00:38:38.19
Keith
We went back inside the store. The girls gathered their stuff and headed out. When I was finished getting the supplies I needed to get me home, I left a note on the register that read, I took some of your stuff, but only what was needed for my survival.

00:38:54.12
Keith
I owe you $78.26. Signed, your friendly neighborhood prepper survivalist.

00:39:02.37
Jeremy
Every time I heard those, every time I heard those girls' voices, it was like, what are you doing?

00:39:02.85
Buddy
Oh, God.

00:39:05.36
Keith
ah

00:39:07.78
Jeremy
Step AI. Yeah.

00:39:09.34
Keith
Well, the well the the the obvious younger one was definitely not a good actress.

00:39:09.41
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:39:13.78
Keith
I mean, let's just put it that way. She couldn't act worth a shit.

00:39:16.11
Jeremy
ah

00:39:16.12
Buddy
Oh, my God. Becky, look at his butt. Yeah.

00:39:20.86
Jeremy
yeah Oh man, I really did enjoy that one. um I liked doing the research and I liked being able to pick stuff out and stay within that budget. It was extremely difficult to do so.

00:39:34.36
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:39:34.39
Keith
ah ah And you know what?

00:39:35.37
Buddy
Yeah.

00:39:36.08
Keith
Scenario-based, that's where I'm at. I love scenario-based type challenges and things like that.

00:39:41.92
Jeremy
Yeah. Yeah, those have been, I think i think the scenarios, ah the scenarios in the top, the top tens are probably my favorites. Cause the scenario you gotta like, you gotta put brain power to a thing and figure out, you know, how am I going to do this within X amount of budget or, you know, within them this amount of weight or something like that.

00:40:02.46
Keith
Well, yeah, you also have to be ah reasonable.

00:40:02.64
Jeremy
That's what I like.

00:40:04.44
Keith
You can't just be like, you know, ah yeah like someone like, well, no if money's no problem, I can just do whatever I want. Or, you know, you can't think of it like a movie. You got to be realistic about it. You have to be honest with yourself about it, you know?

00:40:14.42
Buddy
Yeah.

00:40:16.47
Jeremy
Yeah. Yeah. I, I really liked that one a lot. That was fun.

00:40:20.99
Buddy
Well, I had an honorable mention was the stranded episode. The other scenario based I had it as one my honorable mentions.

00:40:25.48
Jeremy
Oh, yeah.

00:40:26.91
Buddy
It was episode 195. The winner.

00:40:29.13
Jeremy
I think that's the first time I muted myself.

00:40:31.58
Buddy
Yeah. The, the, the winter episode was scenario based.

00:40:35.01
Keith
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. with sound had a sound bite in it with the, the yeah, with the car crashing.

00:40:36.25
Buddy
Yeah.

00:40:37.60
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:40:39.06
Buddy
Yeah.

00:40:39.92
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:40:40.16
Buddy
Yeah. I, I liked that one too. So it was an honorable mention.

00:40:42.35
Jeremy
That was a good one. Yeah, there was, and i damn it, Keith, it took my damn, my next one, but I do have, i do have, but well, an honorable mention and a favorite title.

00:40:54.92
Jeremy
um So all of my, my honorable mention is basically the, the, the Dirty Garden Hose episodes. I really like listening to the Dirty Garden Hose. um But my favorite title ah is episode 174 from stank to sustainability. For some reason, i love I love that title so much for some reason. I just because I look at it and I'm like stank, you know.

00:41:21.33
Keith
what What episode number was that?

00:41:23.80
Jeremy
ah from so we We were talking about, um because we were we had talked to we had done um yeah compost like a pro. um

00:41:31.52
Keith
oh okay.

00:41:32.63
Jeremy
and i

00:41:32.83
Buddy
Yeah, that was right before that one, I believe.

00:41:34.84
Jeremy
yeah well Well, that's actually the other part of it. 174 is compost like a pro from stank to sustainability.

00:41:41.06
Buddy
Yeah. Whoops.

00:41:42.77
Keith
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

00:41:44.54
Jeremy
Yeah. and then

00:41:45.17
Buddy
worked

00:41:46.09
Jeremy
that But the the stank part, just I don't know. Every time I see it, I chuckle for some reason.

00:41:51.48
Keith
Well, you got to remember when I, when I, when I named these podcasts, I had just gotten through, you know, six to eight hours of listening to it over and over and over and over again, because I'm doing posts on it.

00:42:01.39
Jeremy
Right.

00:42:04.22
Keith
You know, I'm doing editing on it. So I'm, I'm, I'm thinking of keywords and I'll write them down, ah you know, as I'm going through. And stank was one that just kept coming up a couple of times. I'm like, I got to put stank in there somewhere.

00:42:17.41
Jeremy
I think I said the word stank in that episode at least, at least twice, I think. Yeah.

00:42:24.33
Buddy
Yeah, it's 174 compost like a pro from stank sustainability, I think.

00:42:24.36
Keith
and you're yeah And for search ah search engine, operator what is it?

00:42:24.49
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:42:29.73
Jeremy
The sustainability. Yeah.

00:42:31.40
Buddy
Yeah, that's not.

00:42:31.74
Jeremy
Yeah. I like that title so much.

00:42:34.23
Buddy
Yeah.

00:42:35.33
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:42:37.79
Keith
SEO search engine operating or whatever where wherever it stands for. ah yeah It's important what words you put in your titles of your content, whether it's podcast, a YouTube video, whatever it is.

00:42:49.71
Keith
Because searchable, that's what SEO is. And all these different algorithms are searching for words when somebody puts in how to how to top off the oil in your vehicle.

00:42:59.94
Keith
And it starts to put through, it starts to look for different words and stuff.

00:43:03.41
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:43:03.80
Keith
So if you're going to call, if you're going to do a a composting podcast and you say, you know, good stuff for your garden, ain't nobody going to find it.

00:43:12.58
Jeremy
Right.

00:43:13.48
Keith
They're looking for compost.

00:43:15.04
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:43:15.36
Keith
You know, so sustainability, compost, stank, you know, pro.

00:43:18.37
Jeremy
before

00:43:19.39
Keith
Yeah, throw those in there.

00:43:21.20
Jeremy
Nice. Yeah. I think I just, were I think I just liked the word stank a lot.

00:43:22.63
Keith
ah You know.

00:43:25.32
Jeremy
I just, yeah.

00:43:25.78
Keith
It's a great word. It is a good word.

00:43:29.26
Jeremy
But I will say in that regard, you know, you talk about doing doing the post. I think our new format of kind of just, you know, rolling in there and start talking what we're doing.

00:43:40.75
Jeremy
I kind of, I think I like that and I don't know, but I think it probably at least reduces some of your post time.

00:43:48.33
Keith
Um, I have to, for instance, tomorrow when I do the, which will be Friday when the listeners are listening to this, when I do the editing on this, cause I won't do it tonight.

00:43:52.43
Buddy
Thank you.

00:43:57.07
Keith
Um, I will have to, uh, write up a monologue for opening. I'll have to write up a monologue for closing and those are scripted and i have to record myself doing them.

00:44:07.87
Keith
And then i take all those files, yours and and buddies and mine, and then my opening and my closing, and I put them all together and the sound, anything I added, sound effects or that, and put them all into sound files.

00:44:20.22
Keith
And then I have to organize, i have to i have to get them to sound good, which is, you know, all the different things, compression and limiters and and and and noise reductions and all these different things you have to put on the different stuff and then volume levels.

00:44:27.88
Buddy
Thank you.

00:44:33.16
Keith
And once I get all that down, then I start piecing it all together, but you know putting them into different spots so that they all flow, get the flow right. And then i start listening from beginning to end and I start cutting out or adding in or you know changing things up.

00:44:47.44
Jeremy
Mm-hmm.

00:44:47.42
Keith
and If somebody farts, you know yeah mean does something nasty with their throat, you know whatever, you know i cut that kind of stuff out.

00:44:47.58
Jeremy
Mm-hmm.

00:44:54.88
Keith
So when you hear me go, I take it out.

00:44:55.01
Buddy
So what you're saying is takes you like and take it takes you like minutes to do this, right

00:45:00.13
Keith
Yep, that's all. It just takes me 10 minutes. That's it.

00:45:02.78
Jeremy
Well, I got to ask from when you guys very first started back in the day and, you know, going forward, um how difficult was it to get started in doing that? And then how is it for you now as compared to then?

00:45:20.50
Keith
Well, i'll I'll tell you this. um The, the posting, the post, they're the the edit work. Okay. Which is doing post post production is what that stands for. Okay. Doing post production, meaning after the thing doing, know, doing the work ah that has, has eased up over the years because technology has gotten better.

00:45:40.97
Keith
And I'm using different programs and I use Audacity and and there's different things that have been added on over the years and making things a little bit easier and easier. Plus my, I'm i'm getting it better. I'm learning it better, you know, but I will say this.

00:45:55.19
Keith
The podcast took a lot more work ah po or pre you guys coming on than it is now post you guys on. And the reason why is because i don't have to talk as much.

00:46:08.27
Keith
The banter's in there.

00:46:09.65
Jeremy
Oh, yeah Mm-hmm

00:46:10.56
Keith
i don't have to I don't have to hold the show. You've got to remember, a lot of those episodes I did back in the day weren't even with Rhonda. In the very very beginning, she was only on a couple, two, or three here or there.

00:46:22.51
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:46:23.31
Keith
And it was just me. So I'm having to think of it. write up the content, you know, organize it into chapters and different things and, and then get it recorded the way that I wanted to and do the posting on it all while having a full-time job, which in my business was a 24 hour a day job because I was in construction on, uh, you know, uh, people's homes.

00:46:36.44
Buddy
Thank you.

00:46:45.25
Keith
It's not something you can, you you don't just work nine to five. You're working all the time.

00:46:48.38
Jeremy
yeah

00:46:50.40
Keith
And it was, uh, it was rough. So, and that's why I kind of, after all that time, ah had decided to, to, you know, stop the show for, you know, for good. And that's because i I just felt like I had done everything I could do.

00:47:03.61
Keith
And it was just getting old, man. It was just, it was just, if I wasn't working, I was working on the podcast it was getting very daunting.

00:47:10.05
Jeremy
Yeah. Yeah.

00:47:11.79
Buddy
Yeah, you get to you hit that burnout. i And i've I've noticed that a lot of them the prep stuff that I used to listen to, the podcasters, um they all kind of about the same time kind of did the same thing.

00:47:26.31
Buddy
They kind of stepped back or or they started like playing the best of kind of thing or. Yeah,

00:47:32.48
Keith
Yeah.

00:47:32.76
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:47:33.07
Keith
Yeah. Well, there's no money. There's no money to be made in podcasting unless you're big.

00:47:36.11
Buddy
yeah.

00:47:36.90
Keith
There really isn't.

00:47:37.29
Buddy
yeah

00:47:37.50
Keith
And you can you can think that you're you're the person you that you're listening to is the best of the best. They're not, unless they're Joe Rogan. They're just not.

00:47:45.48
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:47:46.89
Keith
I mean, you know, it's just the way it is, man. Podcasting does not bring in a lot of money. Podcasting is a um is a way for you to push your other stuff, your other videos or your other ah your your other businesses, your other websites, whatever it is you're trying to push. But podcasting itself, it's not there's not a lot of money in it.

00:48:05.79
Jeremy
yeah I guess you you could call it a, if you really enjoy it, it's a labor of love.

00:48:07.26
Keith
You know,

00:48:07.78
Buddy
there's

00:48:10.95
Keith
it's a labor of love.

00:48:11.18
Buddy
Yeah, it's ah is a hobby is basically what it is.

00:48:11.67
Keith
Yeah.

00:48:13.33
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:48:13.95
Keith
It is a hobby. That's right. Yep.

00:48:16.51
Buddy
But it's cool hobby though.

00:48:16.54
Keith
So we try and keep it professional.

00:48:16.64
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:48:17.62
Keith
We try and keep it fun. i think we've done that. I ain't gonna lie. We've, we've, we've gone down the weeds a few times and got a little boring. ah

00:48:24.92
Jeremy
yeah

00:48:25.48
Keith
You know, I've, I've fallen asleep to a few of my own episodes. It's happened. You know, it, it does. We'll, we'll try and do better. You know,

00:48:33.34
Jeremy
We'll listen to Buddy go,

00:48:37.32
Buddy
Yeah.

00:48:37.80
Jeremy
yeah.

00:48:38.85
Buddy
Yeah, definitely.

00:48:38.88
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:48:38.89
Keith
i take out I take out so many ums and ahs from Buddy. It's not even funny.

00:48:48.80
Buddy
what um What are you talking about? um Yeah. You know, I used to get chastised.

00:48:50.80
Keith
And what...

00:48:54.40
Buddy
I, I did a recruiting stint and my boss used to, I'd go up and do public speaking he's like, they They would count, you know, in ah in a 30 minute presentation, i would, um you know, 120 times. really?

00:49:08.27
Buddy
and i'm like

00:49:09.09
Keith
It makes it very difficult on my end because you what the you'll you'll do something like um you'll say, yeah, so I love to plant you know those types of – well, and i get I get those plants from this one person.

00:49:09.50
Buddy
really

00:49:23.46
Keith
you know so

00:49:24.45
Buddy
yeah

00:49:25.11
Keith
um And then I love it. And then because I i plant them, I'm –

00:49:29.99
Buddy
Can't you see the racquetball in my head going back and forth and hitting walls?

00:49:33.55
Keith
and I have to turn that into a sentence that's that people can understand.

00:49:38.83
Buddy
Yeah. my

00:49:40.69
Jeremy
The racquetball.

00:49:41.05
Buddy
And I hope. I hope my brain's getting better because I've actually, i' I'm taking some mushroom coffee.

00:49:46.08
Keith
Mushroom coffee.

00:49:48.01
Buddy
I'm doing, taking some supplements to, you know, get that thing going. I i feel clear, like the the fog is clear um than and what it used to be, but um um I still have that.

00:49:55.37
Keith
That's good, man.

00:49:55.51
Jeremy
Mm-hmm.

00:49:56.21
Keith
That's good.

00:50:00.71
Buddy
and And I'm working on it.

00:50:00.72
Keith
ah

00:50:02.32
Buddy
I listened to a few episodes and I will, you know, especially the

00:50:04.98
Keith
Everybody does ums.

00:50:06.74
Buddy
The first ones, oh my goodness, man. I was like, shit, what's going on here? You got to work on it. So it's something that I'm i'm act actively working on.

00:50:17.13
Buddy
So hopefully it gets better.

00:50:17.48
Keith
For me, my my biggest thing is for for me, my voice is I um i stutter a lot.

00:50:23.28
Jeremy
Thank

00:50:23.56
Keith
um When I start to get really excited, and I do this in real life, when I start to get really excited about something I'm saying, I start talking really fast. So I do a lot of editing on myself to try and take out some of the stutters.

00:50:36.71
Keith
i keep some of them in, that's fine. ah With you, keep some of the ums in and the ahs and this and that here and there, but I take out a lot. And with Jeremy, I got to cut whole entire freaking sentences.

00:50:49.69
Keith
I'm not even kidding. Sometimes whole paragraphs because he'll, he'll talk about something that's like, you could say in a three sentences and he'll talk 15, 20 minutes about it.

00:50:59.03
Jeremy
Oh, no, I don't.

00:51:00.39
Keith
Oh yes, you do. Oh, let me tell you something. I got, I got two hours worth of of content that I'm trying to cut down to 45 minutes.

00:51:04.79
Buddy
Yeah.

00:51:07.74
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:51:09.98
Keith
So I have to leave what I call the best of Jeremy in his speeches and his things.

00:51:13.75
Jeremy
yeah Now, it is it is a thing. um i try I try not to do that. I really do try, and I've actually been to classes um to not do that. I just did it.

00:51:25.97
Jeremy
But I think that the time that I spent as an instructor in the military helped me to where I don't have a problem talking to people or talking to in public. Missy hates hates being in public talking.

00:51:35.81
Keith
Obviously.

00:51:39.87
Jeremy
She hates it.

00:51:40.23
Keith
Right, right, right.

00:51:41.43
Jeremy
My problem is is that i have this really weird brain where I have packed like mine, just a ah massive amount of useless knowledge in my mind and I have nowhere to dump it.

00:51:54.87
Jeremy
So I come on here and I dump it out. I do.

00:51:59.55
Keith
so that That makes sense.

00:52:00.45
Jeremy
i

00:52:01.15
Keith
Yeah.

00:52:01.48
Jeremy
it's, and it's so stupid because like my kids used to call me the great Googler. 95% of the stuff that they ask me about, I don't have to Google because for some reason I know it. I used to get in a lot of trouble as a kid. And because I was in trouble a lot, I got forced to read.

00:52:14.68
Jeremy
So I used to read encyclopedias and dictionaries.

00:52:17.07
Buddy
i was about to say, you probably read a lot.

00:52:19.52
Jeremy
i have I have read the entire from a to Z of World Book when I was a kid.

00:52:26.25
Buddy
Oh, yeah. Yeah.

00:52:27.34
Jeremy
That's just regular.

00:52:27.41
Buddy
I remember those.

00:52:28.45
Jeremy
And then I also read, yeah, I also read a to Z of the medical World Book.

00:52:28.69
Buddy
I just looked at the pictures.

00:52:34.94
Keith
I was outside burning ants with him with a magnifying glass.

00:52:38.59
Jeremy
I wasn't allowed to go outside.

00:52:39.81
Keith
I was doing stupid stuff.

00:52:41.32
Jeremy
I was in so much trouble as a kid all the time, all the time I was in trouble.

00:52:46.06
Keith
But since I did use up my very first ah one, 161 reality check on Jeremy, because that was, that was also your favorite.

00:52:46.28
Jeremy
So.

00:52:53.27
Jeremy
Mm

00:52:53.89
Keith
I'm going to add in my number three, which was my number four, which is going to be episode 200 zombie land fitness program for proper survivalist with Joe Berger.

00:53:02.47
Jeremy
hmm. Nice.

00:53:03.65
Buddy
Oh yeah, that was a good one.

00:53:05.18
Keith
I liked it. I did. I liked Plus I love anything in zombie land. Um, but anyway, no, we didn't talk about zombies that night, but we did talk about fitness and I, I think about it a lot, um, because I'm trying to lose weight and get more and fit more fit.

00:53:18.14
Jeremy
Yeah,

00:53:19.13
Keith
uh, desperately as you get older, it's harder. And um I go back to that episode, you know, listening to Joe who went from, i believe he went from 300 pounds down to like two 40 or something or something like that during, you know, during that time, it's very dramatic and it's very good for his health.

00:53:29.90
Buddy
Yeah.

00:53:30.78
Jeremy
it was pretty dramatic.

00:53:34.71
Keith
And, uh, you know, I suggest anybody who didn't listen to episode 200, go back and listen to it. It might give you a little kick in the butt to exercise more, but that was, that's my other one. I like, again, we should get Joe back on.

00:53:45.23
Keith
Maybe it's a time for a refresher, lights and fires.

00:53:47.77
Buddy
Oh, yeah. I actually asked him.

00:53:48.91
Jeremy
Check it

00:53:49.88
Buddy
um I asked asked him to come back on, and he said he's got a lot of stuff going on right now, but and we can probably cut that part out. but ah He wants to come back on, so definitely get him back on.

00:53:59.45
Jeremy
Nice Nice Yeah

00:53:59.99
Keith
So, uh, going forward, man, I mean, we are booked right now for the next like month and a half on podcasts um of recordings to do content. Uh, buddy, you want to talk about any of the ones that you got people coming in?

00:54:13.69
Buddy
Oh, i mean I don't want to spoil it for everybody, but

00:54:14.99
Keith
You don't have to you don't, you don't have to, you don't you don't have to mention names, but just, you know, maybe some content, maybe some topics.

00:54:20.15
Buddy
So for the next, for our, I guess our next year in podcasting, I've got some heavy hitters coming in. Some of the guys who are out there on, out and they do their own podcast maybe. And some people you might've heard of.

00:54:35.59
Buddy
um A lot of guys who are in the industry, in our industry, and some of them who aren't, but a lot of good information. I've, I um want to bring on some of our old pot podcast guests.

00:54:50.58
Buddy
like a medic Mike, I think with this homeopathic, which was my number three, by the way, ah that homeopathy medicine.

00:54:56.36
Jeremy
That one, that one, that was good.

00:54:58.25
Buddy
I loved it, man. It was great. Uh, I was floored. I'm still, listened to it. i don't know. I'm on my third listen now. There's just so much information and and I've talked with him to come back on and and he said, absolutely. What do you want to talk about? I'm like, well, you said it started with the gut. So let's start there.

00:55:15.39
Jeremy
Mm-hmm.

00:55:15.43
Buddy
So I think, you know, there might, there might be a series come out of that. Um,

00:55:20.57
Keith
Well, he said he's starting to do some research or learning or taking classes on, I believe, foraging or something like that. wilt Wilderness ah medicine.

00:55:29.47
Buddy
Well, he's okay. if So he's a wilderness medicine instructor.

00:55:30.21
Keith
Something like that.

00:55:33.69
Buddy
I'm actually taking a class right now doing the same thing. um he's kind of He's kind of helping me out with a few things, you know, behind the scenes.

00:55:41.45
Keith
but But he said that when he gets things a little straightened up with that, he he wants to come back on and talk about it. And that's, that's, I'm good that.

00:55:46.09
Buddy
Yeah, and I have... i have a ah I have him for wilderness medicine, which wilderness medicine doesn't mean, oh, I'm out hiking in the wilderness and that's the medicine for that. It's it's more of when you don't have, you have the what's called a golden hour.

00:56:02.71
Buddy
you know And when you live in the city, the golden hour is you the medical standard. Well, if you don't have the golden hour, if you're outside of that, you might live in a rural area to where, you know, it's 45 minutes to an hour to get you to, you know, a level one trauma center where they can, you know, do some things. Or if you, you might have to have ah helicopter take you out of where you're at to get you, you know, to live, you know, that's what we call wilderness medicine.

00:56:31.27
Buddy
So I've got him.

00:56:32.24
Keith
Gotcha. Yeah.

00:56:33.48
Buddy
I've got several, i know a few instructors. I'll just put it that way. um I've got a Canadian, I've got some international casts coming in, ah for wilderness medicine, for bushcraft, for defense.

00:56:40.31
Keith
Well, I've been making the go ahead. Sorry.

00:56:51.12
Buddy
Uh, just, uh, yes.

00:56:51.69
Keith
Frank and Frank from Ireland to be bond pretty soon.

00:56:54.36
Jeremy
Oh, nice.

00:56:54.75
Buddy
And we've I've got a guy from, don't want to give his name yet, but, uh, from Canada, he lives out in the Western part of Canada, who's very knowledgeable, great guy, um coming on and talk about some bushcraft and some wilderness medicine,

00:57:09.89
Buddy
For instance, great, great dude. I met him along the way. But we've got some surprises coming up, a lot of return and repeat guests. And then we're going to have some um some new players in there and some surprises as well.

00:57:24.47
Keith
I've been making a list of people that I'd like to talk to, uh, content creators out there that have a pretty good following and and a good, uh, I've been doing well. I've been having a lot of success and I don't know any of them, but I've got, I've been making a good list and I'm going to start to reach out to these, these folks and see if we can't get them on, you know,

00:57:40.32
Jeremy
Mm. Nice. nice

00:57:42.06
Buddy
Well, and... and

00:57:48.53
Keith
and buddy gets the award for muting himself.

00:57:54.79
Buddy
All right. and and How the hell did I do that? i never i didn't even touch it.

00:58:01.47
Keith
I don't know.

00:58:02.36
Buddy
This ghost is kicking my ass because as I've been in here today, I've had my TV count kick on and off three times.

00:58:02.85
Keith
don't

00:58:09.30
Buddy
Now I've muted myself.

00:58:10.75
Jeremy
That's so funny. I started laughing and I muted my damn self.

00:58:15.86
Buddy
It's like, yeah. but Okay. So some of our listeners might not like it or maybe they do, but we're going to, we're going to, this, this next year is going to have, you know, a bunch of different surprises and ah we're going to do some specials where we have some, you know, midweek specials come on.

00:58:25.09
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:58:30.64
Buddy
There'll be some series of some, of certain prepper things. We're going to take you to the next level of prepping because we can only talk about the bug out bag, you know, or you get home bag so much, you know, we're

00:58:37.76
Keith
Yep.

00:58:40.64
Jeremy
Gavin.

00:58:42.37
Keith
We are going to do bug out bag, uh, episodes throughout the year. It's going to happen because that's all part of prepping, but we don't want to make them all about that. Um, I've got some things like, um, working right now on the website, which ah as you know, is up and running, but we don't have on them is the episodes. That's, that's changing. We got, we're starting to get that set up already.

00:59:01.74
Keith
ah So the episodes will actually be on the website. And the reason for that is I'm hoping, I'm hoping to set up some sort of a ah membership on the, ah on there where we can maybe even get some extra episodes in, which would be kind of cool.

00:59:13.18
Jeremy
Nice.

00:59:14.39
Keith
Also i am learning and figuring out right now how to get the episodes automatically ah put onto YouTube, but just like they are put onto YouTube.

00:59:25.58
Keith
um you know, iTunes and Spotify and all these different places. There's a way to do that where they will automatically go straight over to YouTube, not as a YouTube video, but as a YouTube podcast.

00:59:30.30
Buddy
yes

00:59:37.43
Keith
um Now YouTube has a lot of strange rules that everybody else doesn't have um lots and lots of different strange rules. Um, but, uh, yeah, well, well, one of the, one of the things is interesting enough is it doesn't, uh, count your statistics on there.

00:59:53.37
Keith
So if you get, you know, if you have 10,000 listens on YouTube, it will not show up on your stats. YouTube does their own stats and they don't give them to other people.

01:00:00.04
Jeremy
Oh, yeah. Yeah.

01:00:02.84
Keith
You know, it's, it's their own, you know, their own thing. So anyway, there's a lot, a lot to learn, but I'm working on that this week and, also working on merch.

01:00:11.03
Jeremy
Nice.

01:00:11.28
Keith
So we got a couple of things right now in the, uh, in the website. Um, but i I don't know if they're going to stay those, those were just kind of tester merch, you know, cups and hats and things that we wanted to see how the whole thing worked really finding the best.

01:00:26.25
Keith
We don't want to stock anything. We, we made that mistake with off grid Texas a few years back when we first started doing, we started stocking our own stuff and, And it was so difficult, man, because if you make a t-shirt, you have to make a t-shirt that's in men's and in women's, and you have to make it in all the sizes for a man and a woman.

01:00:43.75
Keith
And then you have to stock them. And that is very expensive to do.

01:00:45.95
Buddy
Yeah.

01:00:48.03
Jeremy
Yeah.

01:00:48.05
Keith
So...

01:00:48.13
Buddy
It's too easy to drop ship now, you know, the, the drop ship companies.

01:00:50.79
Keith
yeah It really is.

01:00:51.89
Buddy
Yeah.

01:00:52.12
Keith
It really is.

01:00:52.54
Buddy
So it makes,

01:00:53.21
Keith
They call it prints on demand and it it works really well.

01:00:55.13
Buddy
yeah

01:00:56.24
Keith
So trying to find the right company to do that with, you know, you don't make anywhere near as much money on a 20 or $25 t-shirt. You might make a buck 50, but it doesn't matter. It's not, it's not really much about that.

01:01:06.78
Keith
It's it's more about getting, you know, getting you guys, the listener to get some merch on you, you know, get, get a shirt on YouTube, to, you know, show your love for the, for the show, get a hat on your mug or something like that. And it's also to spread the word, you know, somebody might say, what is on your shirt? What what is that? you know, and you'll talk about it. That that helps the show.

01:01:24.41
Keith
So, yeah.

01:01:24.56
Jeremy
Yeah.

01:01:25.90
Buddy
So, yeah, I think to finish up our conversation there is we got a lot of surprises. We're actually hitting the gas. We're we're shifting gears now. we're We're not slowing down. We're not, you know, stepping away. We're we're shifting gears. we're We're ramping this thing up, and it's going to get only better.

01:01:41.81
Buddy
Yeah.

01:01:42.66
Jeremy
Yeah. I will say that I was a bit jealous that I did not get to participate in episode 206. with Brent from Project 223, because I actually listened to him.

01:01:56.99
Jeremy
And i when I saw that he was on the episode, I was like, damn it, man. I really wanted to talk to that dude. But yeah.

01:02:05.51
Keith
Brian from 223, Project 223 is awesome, man.

01:02:08.19
Jeremy
Yeah.

01:02:08.40
Keith
He's from the north of the Pacific Northwest. And ah I mean, when you start looking into some of the stuff he actually does, where he's he's on rescue crews and all kinds of crew really cool stuff.

01:02:19.45
Jeremy
Yeah.

01:02:20.28
Keith
He's a cool guy.

01:02:20.70
Jeremy
Yeah. And I will say one of the episodes that I definitely want to do as far as like, you know, stuff that I definitely want to get into on an episode is functional fitness and tactical fitness.

01:02:33.75
Jeremy
Those are, those are a couple of things that I've been exploring the functional fitness part and some of the actual, you know, things that I'm doing while working out.

01:02:33.95
Buddy
Oh, yeah. Very important.

01:02:44.04
Jeremy
going to tell you, they will whip your ass if you are not prepared for them. You're yeah.

01:02:47.80
Keith
ah

01:02:48.14
Buddy
Just getting to the gym whips my ass these days. So, yeah.

01:02:50.29
Jeremy
No, it doesn't.

01:02:52.50
Keith
Putting on my socks helps.

01:02:54.37
Buddy
Oh, God.

01:02:54.50
Keith
I mean, it hurts.

01:02:54.83
Jeremy
Ah, yeah.

01:02:55.38
Keith
It's, you know...

01:02:56.91
Jeremy
Yeah, I, um...

01:02:57.65
Keith
and get my leg bent in just the right position to put my socks on. It's like, you know, but I joke, but in all seriousness, stretching and, and, uh, circulatory has really been a big thing for me.

01:03:07.82
Keith
So I've started doing that, uh, that tie stuff in the morning that you see on the internet.

01:03:11.36
Jeremy
Tai Chi.

01:03:12.16
Keith
Yeah. And it, it's really, I mean, it, it has, it makes your blood move.

01:03:12.77
Buddy
Tai Chi. Yeah.

01:03:17.37
Keith
It really does.

01:03:18.61
Jeremy
Yeah.

01:03:18.71
Keith
You're not doing anything strenuous. You're just doing some movements that allow your veins and arteries to actually open up properly and move your blood around. It actually feels pretty good. So.

01:03:27.30
Buddy
Yeah.

01:03:27.33
Jeremy
I can send you a ah can send you a channel that i utilize because I'll do Tai Chi in the morning, workout, and then ah yoga after to to really stretch it out.

01:03:27.50
Buddy
I've done it before. yeah

01:03:39.83
Jeremy
um But on the cruise, i I overdid it on one day and a it had me where I couldn't work out for two days. But I literally felt like I tore like all my everything in my upper body.

01:03:51.57
Keith
You're on a cruise, man. Why do you even want to work out when you're on a cruise? You should be eating everything that you can see and put your hands on and drink.

01:03:57.73
Jeremy
Mm hmm. Mm hmm.

01:04:00.61
Buddy
Because it's free.

01:04:00.67
Jeremy
Well, it's a it's a yeah, it's a nice gym.

01:04:02.45
Buddy
Well, I mean, you paid for it, but yeah.

01:04:06.20
Jeremy
um And there's plenty of food. But I had a routine. And if I don't have a routine in the morning, like, I'll just I'll go crazy.

01:04:13.84
Keith
see You see Jeremy jump off the side of the boat. and He's swimming next to the freaking boat.

01:04:17.93
Jeremy
No, I can swim.

01:04:17.89
Keith
He's like swimming, doing, doing his laps.

01:04:19.18
Buddy
yeah

01:04:20.57
Jeremy
i mean, my people were natural swimmers, but um ah no, we, it was a really good trip. um But I liked, you know, getting up in the morning, have my coffee, go work out, you know, relax afterwards, get in a hot tub, chill out, do, do my meditation and then go eat a massive breakfast, you know?

01:04:41.46
Keith
Yeah, that's good.

01:04:41.60
Jeremy
So, yeah.

01:04:42.35
Keith
That's awesome. Did you just say that Hispanics were natural swimmers?

01:04:46.19
Jeremy
No, my people.

01:04:46.52
Buddy
That's what he said.

01:04:47.85
Keith
You did. He said that. I heard him say it.

01:04:48.85
Jeremy
yeah

01:04:49.52
Buddy
He did.

01:04:49.59
Jeremy
i didn't I didn't use the word Hispanic, but I am. And I...

01:04:53.96
Keith
Well, you know why they don't why Mexicans don't have an Olympic team, right?

01:04:57.03
Jeremy
Oh, gosh.

01:04:57.63
Keith
Everybody who can run, jump, or swim is already over here.

01:05:02.42
Jeremy
I've got a couple of good Mexican jokes being from South Texas, but I'm not going to do that here.
