The holiday season has a way of lowering our guard.

Lights flicker and blink, music fills the air, crowds swell, and everyone moves a little faster, laughs a little louder, and unfortunately, pays a lot less attention.

And that… right there… is the crack in the armor that predators wait all year to exploit.

While families are shopping… they’re stalking.

While travelers rush through airports… they’re watching.

While we’re juggling bags and phones, coats and conversation… they’re looking for that one moment, when we slip up.

You see, Predators thrive on distraction and sometimes even create it.

They love the chaos, the noise, the shopping frenzy.

They love rushed decisions and unlocked car doors.

And dark lonely parking lots where they find travelers fumbling with luggage in the freezing cold.

The holiday season creates opportunities for them.

As Preppers, it’s up to us to be ready. But we’re not alone.

Tonight, we’re bringing backup.

Special Guest and subject matter expert, Alijandro from SODOG Security Services is very familiar with The Naughty List of predators out there this holiday season looking for soft targets.

He knows how they think, how they probe for weakness, how they move through the shadows, and blind spots, and online where these predators live and thrive.

So, let’s cut through the tinsel and start thinking about safety, so we can be festive and fortified this holiday season… and Al’s gonna show us how.

Let’s get to it.

Al
no uh yeah i go by al um go by al as far as everybody else knows uh marine corps veteran i did presidential security infantry uh did like a five-year stint there didn't really go anywhere or crazy i did some stuff seen some things talked to some people nothing

00:01:21.44
Keith
Well, at least he could talk tonight.

00:01:39.77
Al
Nothing super fancy there, but I'm in the private sector now. I'm the director of training for our private security company. It's called Sodog Inc. and the training services. it's called Sodog Training Services.

00:01:51.66
Al
we do and We do training teams. We do first responders, like church, school, security, like safety programs, and then just regular old civilians as well. And then we do the trauma training partnered with Refuge Medical there and Whenever we get stuff come up, I spearhead the executive protection and corporate security stuff as well.

00:02:11.92
Al
That's pretty much my whole life right now. It takes up every bit of my time.

00:02:16.79
Buddy
Yeah, no dull moments, right?

00:02:18.62
Al
No, not a single one, honestly. and oh Yeah, no, you're right.

00:02:25.22
Keith
So subject matter expert in security.

00:02:25.53
Buddy
so

00:02:30.81
Al
Yeah, for the most part.

00:02:32.27
Keith
Gotcha. Okay. And, uh, buddy, we're talking about tonight. and fits Fits in with that. Really? What are we talking about?

00:02:39.00
Buddy
We're talking about how to reduce the risk in your holiday shopping. Um, it's, uh, it's a thing. I mean, uh,

00:02:45.57
Keith
Well, not just, not just shopping, but all the holiday season itself though. Right.

00:02:48.78
Buddy
we all the holiday season. I mean, most people think about, Oh, it's the holidays and and they want to shop either online or they want to shop, you know, in stores, you get the black Friday, you know, events where people go out and fist fight over a TV or a printer or something.

00:02:57.35
Jeremy
Thank you.

00:03:04.48
Al
Thank you.

00:03:04.71
Buddy
we won't, we won't tell our horror stories there, but you know, there, people still do it. Um, a lot of, ah Amazon stuff and, uh, So we want to go over a few things tonight that will, you know, help hopefully mitigate some risk for out there.

00:03:20.03
Buddy
we're We're in the risk management business and we want to set some things, you know, maybe give you some tips. You might be a subject matter expert yourself, but maybe we can give you a few tips of the trade for, you know, watching, just watching it out for yourself and your family and friends out there, you know during this.

00:03:37.23
Keith
So we're up a preparedness podcast. And in in in that same vein, we want to talk about being prepared for this season. Holiday season definitely brings out the predators that much we know. And they look forward to this season. They prepare for this season. They're planning. They've been planning for this season. They've but probably been in neighborhoods, spotting houses that, you know, that maybe people are going on vacation that they've they've heard of.

00:03:59.51
Keith
um There are security companies out there that have leaks that where where they actually will buy information from security companies who know people are going out of town. They'll buy information from ah from post offices and from from mail mail service.

00:04:14.49
Keith
People do a lot of things for money. Give away your information. They'll know you're going out of town. They they are expecting that you might be going you know to the to the family's house for for the holidays or something. And let's face it, most of us are soft talk targets. I'm going to speak probably for none of us, but most people are soft targets.

00:04:33.11
Keith
And that's just the way it especially if you're shopping. You're not thinking about um somebody robbing you or mugging you in the parking lot or steal it you know stealing your... your robbing you as you're coming out with all your your packages, or maybe, you know, that you're getting packages sent to your house and they're stealing them off your front porch. But either way, this is the season where lots of money gets thrown around.

00:04:55.03
Keith
Lots of products are out there that they can take and pawn and do other things with. And I think it's a good, a good ah time right now is to talk about the, how to prepare yourself for, for that sort of thing.

00:05:06.40
Buddy
Well, and I'd like to kick off this episode by giving a little bit of of something that happened to me actually today. And it's it's happened to me twice in the last year. um i bank with a certain bank and I see that bank that I, they you know,

00:05:23.32
Buddy
that I use, it pops up on my phone. Well, that's the first thing that they never call me. And then all of a sudden somebody wants to verify some things because he said he's from the fraud department. Well, I had this happen today where a scammer came and it's weird that, you know, we're, we're going to record this tonight and then happens a few hours before, but I had a scammer that came on and basically called a spoofed the number of ah my bank.

00:05:52.38
Buddy
And he knew a lot of information about me that he had gotten somewhere along the way, which is, I, I know, ah think I've tracked it down where it came from. And, uh, and there's a lawsuit involved and he wants to verify a few things. Well, he's also saying that there was, you know it's always around a thousand bucks. It's never 10,000 or or, you know, less than that.

00:06:16.30
Buddy
but he said that somebody was trying to use or trying to get it, uh, make a purchase for a thousand dollars on my account. First thing it threw up a red flag. He had an accent.

00:06:27.32
Buddy
some things were throwing up, you know, things he was, he was saying that, you know, was throwing up the red flag and it's not my first rodeo with this next thing I know. I'm like, Hey, listen, I'm going to call you right back. I got a bad connection.

00:06:38.49
Buddy
And when I did call back on the line from my card called the fraud department for that certain bank and, uh, They had no, you know, first thing i asked was, hey, are you trying to reach me for, you know, this for a you know fraudulent purchase? and they're like, ah let me look. No, let me look at something else. No, and no, and no.

00:06:59.17
Buddy
And so I shut that down quickly. So. ah just to make it real for everybody out there listening, this is really happening right now in real time. And this is the season.

00:07:11.02
Buddy
And I've, I've had a heck of a time in Mexico one Christmas Eve when I was not even in Mexico. was in Oklahoma of all places. um But I'd had a heck of a time there, at least on my credit card. So, you know, take what you hear, you know, with, a you know, and take this stuff to,

00:07:30.10
Buddy
you know, to task that, you know, this can really happen to you. So with having said all that, let's, ah let's let's introduce Al here and yeah I'll take it away.

00:07:42.73
Al
Oh, no. Yeah. I think stuff like that happens way more often. I think um especially nowadays, everything's online. I mean, you guys probably use online banking. I use online banking almost all the time. So, and I think when we were talking about um most people are soft targets and and most people don't even know what it means to be a soft target.

00:08:05.98
Al
We were talking about these predators and stuff who they They wait around for this holiday season because everybody's in a rush. Everybody's panicked. Everybody wants to buy this, buy that. And then they they get sloppy.

00:08:18.82
Al
You know, they're not these predators aren't hunting for people. they're they're They're looking for specific opportunities and they'll take whichever one they can get. You know, um like I said, these people, they get distracted and all all these guys want are easy wins. And everybody's, eve whether they're going into the store or whether they're shopping on Amazon or whatever,

00:08:38.64
Al
they become those soft targets like we were saying so ah for me especially in the industry i'm in and the classes i did we do a lot of like physical stuff so not a ton of it goes online but like when you guys are going to or when anybody really is going to like these black friday sales and and they go in store or they're just trying to get like these you know these deals at target or walmart or wherever it is and they're and uh you know, they're shopping, they're trying, they're bringing their kids, they're bringing their families and stuff like that's when these, these people strike. Right.

00:09:10.93
Al
So you're talking, i don't know if you guys remember like way back in the day when black Friday meant like you had to stand in a line for and' hours on end just to get like a 40 inch TV for like couple hundred bucks.

00:09:23.24
Keith
That's right. That's right.

00:09:24.93
Al
Yeah.

00:09:25.41
Buddy
Yeah.

00:09:26.26
Al
A lot of that stuff we don't really do anymore because everything's online, but I mean, there are stores that still do it. You have to go inside to get these things. And I think they've picked up the security stuff with ah doing like the mobile pickups where they just come put stuff in your car, but there's still threats there. So I think what was it?

00:09:44.66
Al
Like 70% of stuff happens in, in these major parking lots, right? Everybody wants to park far away from the entrance and stuff. Cause they don't want to get their nice car dinged or what, ah what have you, but it can be like one of the most dangerous spots for shopping.

00:10:00.87
Buddy
Yeah, i've I've read statistics about Walmart parking lots so is the one place if you want to go find trouble, it'll find you, especially in a Walmart parking lot.

00:10:01.18
Al
Cause

00:10:10.04
Buddy
So I agree with that.

00:10:11.05
Al
Oh, yeah.

00:10:12.24
Buddy
Yeah.

00:10:12.73
Al
Yeah, these guys, are they're looking for that transition period from inside the store. You know, they could be casing you out while you're in there, seeing what you're buying, and then they're going to follow you out. And when you got two hands full of bags or you got screaming kids or whatever, and you have that cart unattended or, Lord forbid, you have your kids unattended, that's when these guys are going to come and come get you.

00:10:34.29
Al
Most people either don't or can't park with their nose out, right? So they everything is like, straight right there in the open. There's a direct line to the back seat, front seat, whatever it is.

00:10:45.99
Al
I mean, couple of things that I like to tell my family members, especially my mom, Lord forgive her because she is just one of those people who's like, ah, it's not going to happen. Like whatever. and I always tell her like, when you go to the car, you should not unlock the car right away.

00:11:01.99
Al
Right. You're, you're, you're 50 feet from the car. Why are you unlocking the car? You know? When you're you have the cart out in the middle of the street full of all the stuff you bought and you're in the driver's seat trying to mess with stuff.

00:11:13.02
Al
ah it's It's little stuff like that. or Dude, they can take everything you bought and run off with it and you're never going to find them again. You know?

00:11:22.29
Keith
Yeah, or or that one expensive thing that they just watched you purchase. They know exactly what bag it's in, where it's at, and what to grab.

00:11:28.55
Jeremy
Mm-hmm.

00:11:28.65
Al
Oh, yeah. And all this is, is it's situational awareness. I mean, we probably i mean I'm sure you guys have... preached on situational awareness a thousand times i don't know how many times you guys have done topics where that's involved but that's what it is you know again we go back to that technology thing people are like dead into their phone like not a clue what's going on around them you know there's people are leaving kids in their car or um another adult in the car who is just zero clue what's going on right doors unlocks stuff like that like for the military guys right you you

00:12:04.59
Al
doing this that on patrols, you're doing that thing called seals, right? Stop, look, listen, smell. I mean, you should be doing that in your everyday, ah like habitually. You go into a store, you should be looking around, seeing what's going on, get a baseline to that place. You go into the parking lot, baseline of the parking lot.

00:12:21.24
Al
As soon as you get in a car, you need to be looking around again, doing the same thing. And and people just don't do that kind of thing. it's, you know, that's where we're a little bit We're a lot harder to be soft soft targets because we like have that naturally instilled, but regular people don't.

00:12:32.01
Jeremy
Mm-hmm.

00:12:36.47
Al
They don't know that, hey, you need to come to your cart at a 45 degree so you can see what's in it before you hop in it. People don't know that. People don't think about, hey, where am I oriented with my kids versus the cart and the people around me?

00:12:50.47
Al
Is there a barrier in front of me? How close is this person to you? If somebody can touch you, man, they can hurt you, take stuff from you. They can do all types of things. So why are we letting people get super close to us? Just little stuff like that. And I see it every day, all the time.

00:13:04.31
Al
And it gets even worse around the holiday season when people are stressed and rushing, trying to get all those deals and get their family the perfect gift and stuff. It's just not worth your safety.

00:13:13.21
Keith
What was that you just said about a 45 degree angle to your your vehicle? What was that?

00:13:17.87
Al
Oh, yeah. So you see this a lot like... um

00:13:20.45
Keith
The police officers?

00:13:21.57
Al
Yeah, it' law enforcement, right?

00:13:23.24
Keith
Okay.

00:13:23.56
Al
So if you're going approach and a vi a vehicle, right, if you come straight from the back, I mean, how many people we know now have tinted windows, especially live in a hot place, right? Then you're not going to be able to see what's going on. If you're coming, even when you're coming up to your own vehicle, coming up at a 45 degree angle, whether it's going to be the front's a little bit easier, but the back, i mean, it also helps.

00:13:44.57
Al
But you shouldn't just be beelining without looking what's inside your car. Law enforcement doesn't do it. it's it's part of their It's part of their habitual, you know, daily tasks. Like every time I approach a vehicle, i approach a vehicle a certain way.

00:13:56.50
Al
So you can see what's inside before you even open the door, before you unlock your door. Because what if somebody was able to get in there? Now we all have, oh, my car is a car alarm.

00:14:07.25
Al
Yeah, sure, whatever. Somebody gets in there and you haven't seen them. As soon as you open the door, boom Or as soon as you open the door, somebody was waiting to snag your kids, snag your groceries, snag your $600 ring you just bought for your fiance, blah, blah, blah, blah blah whatever, what have you. um <unk> But it's one of those tiny little things like, hey, I'm just going to approach my car differently. and Maybe I'll notice something that's a little bit out of that baseline that you should have established already.

00:14:34.15
Jeremy
yeah And a lot of people also don't look underneath their vehicles.

00:14:37.55
Buddy
Oh, yeah.

00:14:37.85
Al
Oh, yeah, it's a big one.

00:14:38.26
Jeremy
um I remember, I don't remember the the the time or the place, but there was an instance where it was in a big city and there were individuals who were waiting either just up underneath, like they had slid in there, or they were waiting behind.

00:14:58.11
Jeremy
And when a person was not looking well enough, they were actually going up and they were cutting their Achilles, taking their stuff, getting in the car and leaving.

00:15:07.18
Buddy
Yeah, I've heard of that.

00:15:07.96
Al
Ooh.

00:15:08.29
Buddy
ah My ex was fixated on that. And she is, if she's done one of the things she's done well with my daughters is she has them so scared about getting in a car in a parking lot just because of that.

00:15:21.12
Buddy
So um it's it it's happened. I mean,

00:15:24.33
Keith
What is that process? I don't do that. What is that? i mean, I've got a truck, so it's up higher than normal cars anyway, so I can see under there. But what's the process of checking under your vehicle? How do you do that?

00:15:35.94
Jeremy
Well, I can tell you how I would do it, how I've done it before, um and you know even being deployed. you know you You pick your angle. um Some people go from behind. Some people go from a catacorn or front, you know where you're not directly in front of to the side of your vehicle, but you're approaching it from that kind of you know that weird driver's blind spot.

00:15:56.77
Jeremy
And you just pick a spot, and you start looking, and you look for anything that's outside of the norm. Because would be possible If it was daytime, you know, and you saw like a crazy looking method up underneath your car, you'd be like, whoa, dude, that's obviously out of the norm.

00:16:14.21
Jeremy
But at night, you may not be able to see that even, and I've got a big truck as well. You might not be able to see um someone staged up underneath there, you know, at nighttime. So...

00:16:25.37
Jeremy
Yeah, you gotta to you got to pick your spot and then kind of scan. And what you're looking for is not necessarily a person. You're looking for things that are outside of the norm of what you would you should see, which is just a street.

00:16:35.27
Keith
Shining a flashlight or something.

00:16:36.83
Jeremy
You can do that too, yeah.

00:16:37.96
Keith
Yeah.

00:16:38.76
Jeremy
Yep.

00:16:40.42
Al
That's one of those things that should be part of your EDC anyway. i mean, we yeah we always talk about those things in our classes, what you carry on you and carry with you on a daily basis, right? i want to Just a nice, strong flashlight.

00:16:51.94
Al
You know, you're about to hit the store, you get out of the vehicle. The farther away you are, it's a little bit easier to see underneath, you know, just with those angles and stuff. But you get out of your car, walk across the way, shine that light under there. Again, establish the baseline.

00:17:06.54
Al
As soon as you come back out, same spot, look. something's a little bit off like you were saying mean that'd be that'd be my first indicator like oh something's different from when i walked out of here wonder what that is you know

00:17:18.73
Keith
That's a great tip. Yeah, I love it. and And i'm the I'm the person who carries my flashlight and pocket knife 24 seven. I'm surprised if I reach down and don't feel my my flashlight on my hip.

00:17:32.32
Al
yeah that's like me now, especially with like, uh, got ah myself a nice new sparkly softy tourniquet and it goes with me everywhere. So now if I don't feel that i kind of like panic, like, man, did I leave something else? Like what, what is going on?

00:17:45.54
Al
But we were talking about, you know, just the holiday shopping too, but I mean, going to and fro another place that a lot of these, you know, crimes or these criminals are looking for you out at gas stations, gas stations is a huge one, um, where, you know, these,

00:18:02.11
Al
but Let's say predators are looking for those opportunities, right? you mean Do you i mean you guys always lock her lock your car every time you get out to pump your gas? Because I do. but You guys probably do, but does everybody? you know that's That's another like easy target for people is gas stations unlock cars while they're pumping.

00:18:18.42
Keith
and Absolutely. i can't I can't imagine walking away from my vehicle in a gas station at a gas station pump to go inside and not locking my car. That doesn't make any sense to me to not do that.

00:18:28.24
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:18:29.18
Al
Yeah, well, especially people traveling for the holidays, just going to see family or not doesn't necessarily have to be shopping either.

00:18:29.37
Jeremy
yeah

00:18:37.30
Buddy
People are.

00:18:37.42
Keith
Well, sure. I mean, and you know that you know that people who are traveling during the holidays, they are carrying their gifts with them. They're carrying lots and lots of money worth of stuff.

00:18:46.51
Al
Oh, yeah.

00:18:47.76
Keith
They are worth something.

00:18:49.98
Buddy
And, you know, when people travel, it's not like their everyday commute where, you know, they're focused on getting to work, maybe about what's going on at work that day, but they don't have a lot on their mind.

00:18:50.03
Jeremy
yeah

00:18:59.43
Buddy
But when you travel, so especially when you're going you know over the river, through the woods to grandma's house, you're you're focused on.

00:19:08.11
Buddy
a lot of things, you know, oh is, is aunt Betty gonna, you know, is she gonna cause drama this year? You know?

00:19:15.26
Keith
What's what time you going to get there? How long is it going to take?

00:19:17.16
Buddy
Yeah.

00:19:17.50
Keith
You know,

00:19:18.57
Buddy
yeah You know, what is, i Will so-and-so show up? you know did Oh, did I bring this? Did I forget that? And you're not thinking about what you're actually doing. youre Your mind is everywhere else. Your head's way up your ass, and you're not focused on the task at hand. so i mean and I think um'm I've been guilty of it, too, especially when I travel.

00:19:37.92
Buddy
Sometimes I'm more you know focused on getting out the door and getting where I'm at to to really... you know stay in my bubble to, you know, do my fives and 25s, you know, to scan, to do the things I need to do, you know, get those baselines and stuff.

00:19:53.22
Buddy
So, I mean, it

00:19:53.94
Jeremy
You might have to explain 5 and 25.

00:19:57.17
Buddy
and so yeah, that's true. So fives and 25s when, for instance, when I walk out of my house, the first thing I do is I scan five meters away from my house and I do a ah little, you know, as far as I can see five meters around me.

00:20:10.83
Buddy
And then as soon as I do the five meters, then I do the 25 meters. So I'm, I'm doing what's the local, the, the quickest threat, the nearest threat is the five, the, the five meter. And then the 25 meters, the next threat that might happen. So, and then, you know, walking out to my truck or car, whatever I'm driving that day, then, you know, I'm out as I approach, I'm looking for somebody ah underneath or something underneath.

00:20:35.64
Buddy
I'm checking the tires to make sure, you know, my tires are good. I'm making sure that, you know, there's, There's not, you know, Molotov cocktail, so you know, rag stuck out of the gas tank. I'm i'm doing things looking and, you know, you might be thinking, oh, buddy, you're paranoid, you know. Well, shit, that's the world we live in now.

00:20:51.44
Buddy
You know, though that time of not being paranoid was yesterday. Oh, I'm sorry.

00:20:55.78
Al
I was just about to hit on that too. um No, no, no, you're not stealing thunder, but i'm I'm glad you brought it up.

00:20:58.44
Buddy
i don't want to steal some thunder here. I'll stop.

00:21:02.38
Al
It was perfect because I think the big misconception when you know like-minded folk like us talk about these things is like, man, these guys are paranoid. like this ah That's extreme. my Again, my mother is one of these people.

00:21:17.24
Al
is where nobody's telling anybody hey you need to go out there and you need to be jason born john wick on your a game but everywhere you go it's like we just when i explain this people i don't want anybody to live their life scared and paranoid i want them to build habits that make them less i would say let like i said less of a soft target but less attractive to these predators right A small pause of you looking around and taking in your surroundings makes, makes like these predators and these criminals not want to pick you like something so small.

00:21:53.83
Buddy
Yeah, and it it's habits. you know you you you That's the golden word here, habits. you know yeah It's just the little bitty habits that's going to get you through the day that you know after a while, it's second nature.

00:22:07.83
Buddy
That you don't have to think about doing fives and 25s or doing getting your baseline and doing these things. It just happens as you go. It's it's just it's like muscle memory, you know?

00:22:18.98
Jeremy
I've also found that the way that, uh, you carry yourself just in everyday, everyday normal life, how you walk into the store, or walk into a restaurant, a lot of predators and a lot of people who are waiting, you know, in the, in the wings to take advantage of a moment. They're looking at people who are looking at their phones, who, who do present themselves as a soft target.

00:22:43.34
Jeremy
Um, if you see somebody and you see them walk in and you see them look around with intent and purpose, you sort of present yourself as not necessarily a target that can be taken very easily.

00:22:55.69
Jeremy
And, um, I have talked to, to criminals about this before, um, happened to be related to them, but, um, you know, it's, uh, I asked him, I'm like, well, you know, how did you, how did you choose? And he's like, I looked for the ones that look weak.

00:23:11.11
Jeremy
And, um, I know that for a lot of people, you know, you can kind of spot people who are former military or military, you know, or cops um or, you know, somewhere in that industry where you can walk, you see how they walk, you see how they talk, you see how they carry themselves, how they look around, you know, um you can tell who's a soft target and who's not.

00:23:32.95
Jeremy
And um it's not even the like the dudes who present themselves as being tactical and constantly wearing, you know, all that kind of stuff. you know it's It's a mixed bag, but um you know carrying yourself with assuredness and actual ah confidence will dissuade a lot of people.

00:23:57.60
Buddy
Yeah, that's well said.

00:23:57.75
Al
I think one of the things since I was bringing up the EDC stuff, did your guys' says EDC change around this time of year?

00:24:07.86
Jeremy
Yeah, because I usually ah usually get fatter.

00:24:07.98
Buddy
Yeah, funny you say that. We just did an episode.

00:24:11.03
Jeremy
I usually to get fatter this time of year, so I i do change up my...

00:24:11.08
Buddy
Yeah.

00:24:12.97
Al
that

00:24:13.68
Buddy
Yeah, you're everyday character.

00:24:14.17
Al
I got to get it, pull out the bigger belt.

00:24:16.58
Buddy
Yeah, we did.

00:24:16.88
Jeremy
i get I switch up to my larger my larger fanny pack, you know, because I've got to make room for the stomach.

00:24:18.05
Buddy
We're.

00:24:23.89
Buddy
All right. Okay. So we're at that point. So we brought out the Pee Wee's Playhouse Word of the Day, the Fanny Pack.

00:24:30.95
Jeremy
Hell yeah.

00:24:31.19
Buddy
Al, are you pro Fanny Pack or against the Fanny Pack?

00:24:31.18
Jeremy
yeah

00:24:37.25
Jeremy
Come on now, you got to back us up.

00:24:38.07
Al
Who are you asking?

00:24:38.33
Jeremy
You got to back us up here.

00:24:39.85
Buddy
Al, Al, are you pro?

00:24:41.24
Al
Oh, you're asking, am I pro fanny pack?

00:24:43.19
Buddy
Yeah.

00:24:43.77
Al
I am pro, okay. I am pro external bag if it's not like mollied and tactical though.

00:24:50.23
Jeremy
Mm-hmm.

00:24:52.89
Al
You know what i mean?

00:24:53.85
Jeremy
Mm-hmm.

00:24:54.24
Al
Like if you're out, man, if you're wearing this like multicam coyote tan, like molly, ah molly like looped and with all this like hook and loop patches on it,

00:24:56.96
Buddy
Thanks, man, sir.

00:25:07.94
Al
Hey, man, there's probably something funny in there. You know, like that's that's one thing. If you're wearing something that's a little bit more like, you know, I like to go out and sweats all the time. Right. Sweats don't have a lot of pockets. So therefore, I can wear an external bag crossbody with the fanny pack.

00:25:23.85
Al
I am pro external bag. If you're not wearing something that look like it came out of the MCX on Cam Pendleton.

00:25:33.02
Buddy
Yeah.

00:25:33.02
Jeremy
Mm-hmm.

00:25:34.11
Buddy
Okay. That's a safe answer.

00:25:35.35
Jeremy
So you're not saying that you're anti-Fanny Pack. So I think we can chalk this up as a win.

00:25:40.18
Al
I,

00:25:40.76
Keith
All I want to know is why do we have to bring up the freaking Fanny pack on every damn episode? That's what I want to know.

00:25:47.14
Buddy
yeah

00:25:47.74
Jeremy
da

00:25:48.13
Buddy
You're so against it, man.

00:25:49.39
Keith
I think you guys just like saying Fanny.

00:25:49.66
Jeremy
Fanny Pack is life.

00:25:51.44
Keith
You like, you like the word.

00:25:53.78
Buddy
It's, it's, it's a thing, man. People, grown men wear fanny packs. Sometimes it happens and they can be tactical. I mean, it's like he he was saying, it's what's in it, man.

00:26:00.89
Jeremy
Yeah, man.

00:26:03.13
Buddy
they

00:26:03.37
Al
What's what sucks about the fanny pack is you can tell based on who's wearing the fanny pack what's in it right so you're you're was gonna say accountant but if you've seen the movie it kind of stirred me the wrong way you never know nowadays but um if you're seeing that like the guy that works at like

00:26:11.31
Jeremy
That's true.

00:26:24.50
Al
you know, this regular 95 works at the store or whatever. one who looks like a soft target and he's wearing a fanny pack. He's probably got his, his ibuprofen in there. He's probably got, you know, a charger or the business guys probably got his stuff.

00:26:37.10
Jeremy
inhaler.

00:26:38.10
Al
Yes. Inhaler. Hey, you know, I know people asthma, right? We'll say inhaler is a medical thing. You got your meds in there. That's fine.

00:26:44.26
Jeremy
Yeah,

00:26:44.43
Al
But then if you look at somebody who like, uh, if you see myself or if you see buddy out and he's wearing a fanny pack, you know what? You're I have a pretty good guess what's in there.

00:26:56.39
Al
You know i mean?

00:26:58.53
Jeremy
yeah I would agree. i would agree.

00:26:59.26
Keith
ah I don't hide the way, I mean, the way I look, I don't hide it. I i also don't, I don't go around, you know, throwing it all about, i mean, I wouldn't carry my rifle on my back down the block like some people would, but, but no, I mean, I, I've got, tech I've got a lot tactical stuff. I have no problem with it, but I also don't walk into the store with my, with my tactical sling pack across my chest.

00:27:18.99
Keith
Never done it.

00:27:19.33
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:27:19.51
Keith
Never would do it. Stays in my truck. You know, that's what I need to be in the store is my wallet, my flashlight, my knife, and my gun. Those are things I need when I walk into the store.

00:27:28.43
Jeremy
no Yeah.

00:27:30.21
Al
and medical.

00:27:31.18
Jeremy
And medical.

00:27:32.83
Keith
I always forget the medical. I don't carry it. I'm just bad at it. And I, And I know I need to do better, especially with all the episodes we've done with Refuge Medical and some other people. But I just, I forget. mike My ah first aid kit, my FAC, is in my ah truck. it's That's just a word. In both trucks. It's always there. That's where it's at. But it's never go into a place with it on me.

00:27:52.84
Jeremy
I will tell you this. If you create a habit where you put two rubber bands around your belt and you make a loop and you put a tourniquet on your belt and you get into the habit of doing that, when you start to put on your belt and you start looking for the tourniquet, that will create a new habit of having medical with you.

00:28:09.95
Jeremy
Mm-hmm.

00:28:10.47
Keith
You guys love the tourniquet thing. All of y'all. And even Al and was talking tourniquet. I've never carried, I have them. I've never carried them and I've never needed one. And I'm 56 years old. So I'm not saying that it's not a great thing to have. And and when you do need it and you don't have it, that's got to suck.

00:28:26.56
Keith
What I'm saying is when it's one more thing I have to have to think about that I've never used before, never had to use before, and I'm not sure if I'm going to use it in the future. What happens if you do render aid to somebody and then they sue you because you did something wrong and they had to amputate their leg?

00:28:42.12
Keith
I don't know, man. just I'm just saying it out loud.

00:28:43.35
Jeremy
Well, yeah, there's a big, big miscon misconception about that.

00:28:43.68
Al
misconception there with the tourniquet right so if if you apply that turn and this we all know like the the g watt and and all the all the studies that get done especially with the cat uh the gen 7 tourniquets whatever that tourniquet can stay on for hours and cause you zero harm

00:28:47.08
Keith
Talk to me. Talk to me.

00:29:07.23
Al
But it's going to hurt, right? and you were going But you're going to live because you're not bleeding out. where you can Where harm can be done is applying a second turner kit too close, right?

00:29:18.37
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:29:19.37
Al
And even then, amputation is not impossible, unlikely. But you're not going to get, I'll tell you right now, and maybe it's just me, if I'm bleeding severely from my leg and you put me in a mass amount of pain and I have to sit in that mass amount of pain for hours and hours and hours because you put a tourniquet on me, but I lived, I'm not suing you, dog.

00:29:42.21
Al
That's just me.

00:29:43.06
Jeremy
yeah i think i I think I told you guys about the, there's a Green Beret. um I think it was seven tourniquets. They ended up having to put on them, and a couple of those actually, yeah, a couple of them actually had to be doubled up because his legs, which a lot Green Beret's legs are super big, his legs were so big, they ended up having to use seven tourniquets spaced out.

00:29:52.79
Keith
What?

00:30:06.40
Jeremy
all i mean When I say they had to ride that thing all the way up high, because all your tourniquets should be high and tight, they had it literally starting directly in his groin and going down every few inches.

00:30:19.29
Jeremy
That's how, that's how many it took. And they actually had to take some end to end and put them together too, because it's just his legs were tree trunks.

00:30:27.04
Keith
but But Al just said that you can't put on more than one.

00:30:30.13
Al
You can. You can't put them on too close to each other.

00:30:31.00
Jeremy
You can. Yeah.

00:30:33.64
Keith
Oh.

00:30:34.60
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:30:34.66
Al
Yeah, so like about four inches or so. I always i use my four fingers as reference. This is also why carry a soft tee.

00:30:39.39
Jeremy
Mm-hmm.

00:30:41.64
Al
For those guys that have big limbs, it is much longer than your regular like cat gen 7.

00:30:41.75
Jeremy
Mm-hmm.

00:30:47.23
Al
So high and tight for the first one, four inches, everyone after that.

00:30:47.28
Jeremy
yeah Yeah, that's that's an after hours discussion about that one there.

00:30:51.43
Buddy
all right, we're going to set up a training event for Keith so we can get him schooled up on it, get him to team tourniquet.

00:30:55.88
Al
Let's do yeah

00:30:58.48
Buddy
yeah You'll be a team tourniquet guy in no time.

00:31:00.10
Keith
Is that before or after the hot dog eating contest? Because I got to eat when you know when i when I do stuff.

00:31:06.54
Buddy
so

00:31:06.95
Al
I don't even want to know what that is about.

00:31:07.11
Buddy
We'll do it after. That will be way the tourniquet. Yeah.

00:31:13.95
Keith
Don't Google it.

00:31:18.25
Buddy
All right, let's let's get back on track with the with Al here.

00:31:22.45
Keith
It wasn't me.

00:31:22.71
Buddy
So, ah yeah, well, this always happens.

00:31:23.31
Keith
I didn't do it.

00:31:25.46
Buddy
So, you know, every

00:31:26.40
Al
Well, I mentioned EDC one time and then we got into Fanny Packs. So that's where that's where we left off is the EDC stuff for the holiday season.

00:31:31.87
Buddy
it that's how it always starts right there.

00:31:31.90
Jeremy
And that's how it begins.

00:31:34.91
Buddy
But so what what else, what's some other tips you can give for these holiday, you know, our holiday shoppers and and ah people that are going over river through the woods to go to grandma's house?

00:31:35.07
Jeremy
Mm-hmm.

00:31:47.99
Al
hey the The shopping one, I mean, I feel like the more we talk about it, more we're beating a dead horse. I mean, keep your eyes up. You know, if you can't keep your eyes up, look up every once in a while. That stop, look, listen, and smell. Like you said, the 525s. These are just habits you have to build.

00:32:05.16
Al
The next best, I'd say the next worst thing, really, for me, it would be traveling. Like we talked about the gas station already, but you know People travel for the holidays, whether they're going to see family or whether they're trying to get out of a cold environment and go to a hot one.

00:32:19.59
Al
Then you get you involve all the holiday stuff with hotels, airports. you know um Is your car equipped if your car breaks down during your holiday travel? i mean that's That's the next thing for me during the holidays. That gets people hemmed up.

00:32:37.00
Al
Let's see what what was the first thing I had here. I had this all written down real nice because you guys are nice and professional. and I've tried to maintain that for you. um

00:32:45.28
Jeremy
Who lied to you?

00:32:45.57
Al
Hotels.

00:32:46.61
Buddy
you're going to totally run you're going to totally run our our what am I looking for so we that's the one I don't even have one so I don't even know what to call it so alright so what's next

00:32:47.98
Al
Buddy.

00:32:53.82
Keith
reputation.

00:32:58.05
Jeremy
a

00:32:59.82
Al
um

00:33:02.75
Al
Traveling for the holidays. You start like as soon as you leave your home, right? Do you have light timers on? Right? Are you are you one of those nice fancy smart homes where you can set the timers on the lights?

00:33:12.18
Keith
Al, let me let me stop you real quick.

00:33:12.56
Al
ma

00:33:13.90
Keith
And you can start this right over again. You're still just a little bit loud there. Maybe just drop your voice a little bit or move away from the mic.

00:33:20.23
Al
Oh, yeah, I gotcha, gotcha, gotcha, gotcha.

00:33:22.07
Keith
I can hear it little in the background.

00:33:22.36
Al
How's this?

00:33:23.30
Keith
Yeah, you're good. You were good up until now. Just right there. You got real excited and took off.

00:33:27.70
Al
I think it's because I bumped my mic forward here.

00:33:30.27
Keith
Yeah, pull it back.

00:33:33.18
Al
right, how's this?

00:33:34.55
Keith
That's perfect.

00:33:35.59
Al
Awesome.

00:33:35.59
Keith
All right. so So what's next?

00:33:37.58
Al
Yeah, so presenting your house is a hard target, right? I mean, it's not just you. It means it's your belongings as well. um I don't know if you guys remember when the makeshift car alarms, or not makeshift, I'd say aftermarket car alarms are a big thing. So if you've seen that blinking light in your car, people would like, oh, okay, this one's got an alarm on it. Better not hit this one.

00:34:00.01
Al
I mean, the same thing is kind of with your house, except it's not so obvious, right? So people who are fortunate to have light timers is a big one that we've talked about before. if you can set the timers in your lights to go on and off while you're gone, I mean, it looks like somebody's home.

00:34:14.76
Al
Keeping the classic, keeping the TV on low, music some some music playing or whatever. um If you're going to leave your house, I mean, you don't need to turn it into a fortress. You just need to make it look like somebody's in there, you know?

00:34:31.35
Al
And that goes, excuse me.

00:34:34.60
Keith
ah that's that's a great point that's That's a great point.

00:34:34.86
Al
Oh,

00:34:36.56
Keith
And I think they make those, not think, I know that they make those TV simulator lights, like LED, like you plug them in and they simulate what but a TV would look like glowing in a room.

00:34:46.84
Al
oh no kidding. I didn't even know about that.

00:34:48.13
Keith
yeah with With movement and everything.

00:34:51.24
Al
Oh yeah. See, and this is just one of those things I did when I was a kid too. I mean, we grew up in a not so nice neighborhood. So it was like lock the doors, keep the TV on, keep the lights on. We don't want anybody to have any inclination that nobody's home.

00:35:03.17
Al
So that's, I mean, I've been doing that kind of stuff since I was a little kid.

00:35:07.47
Keith
Right.

00:35:08.78
Al
And then from the house to the car, same thing. Hey, if you have everything packed up, do you have the right stuff with you? or where am I going? Well, I'm traveling. You know, eight hours to grandma's house, that's family gathering. Do I have um holiday season? I'm thinking cold weather. I'm from cold weather environment. Do I have extra clothes in here? If the car breaks down, can we keep warm?

00:35:31.37
Al
Do I have medical with me? Because I always carry medical with me. You should always carry medical with you, Keith. And then, you know, do we have extra... do my do we have extra

00:35:41.10
Keith
you just You know you started. they're These guys are going to bust my chops going forward from now on. You know they're going to do that.

00:35:45.82
Buddy
Oh yeah.

00:35:46.03
Jeremy
100%. Yes.

00:35:47.73
Keith
So it's its it has begun.

00:35:49.64
Jeremy
yes

00:35:49.84
Al
Well, if I didn't say anything, i would get my chops busted too. So there's, there's people who going this like, you know what? You didn't even correct that guy. So I'm not lying to you, but you know that from the house safety, travel safety, you know, have you, have pre-plan the route.

00:36:09.19
Al
And that's something I'm used to with the security stuff that we do, but do you know where you're going? What's, um, where your gas stations are? If you're that kind of person, uh, do you have backup comps? This is all, I guess, a little bit more extreme for some people, but having the basics, do I have extra food? do i have extra clothes? Can I stay warm? And am I going to be okay if something happens to somebody? And can I communicate to the outside world if we break down the middle of nowhere because grandma lives in BFE, right?

00:36:36.72
Al
Um, and That is moving back and forth. If you're going into hotels and stuff too, man, ie I hope the movie Taken has with, you know, Liam Neeson has like really like shined the light on like how unsafe some of these hotels can be and like whether you're domestic or is somewhere else.

00:36:56.97
Al
um I met somebody who consistently told me that, they oh, you know what? Every time I walk in my hotel room, it's like fifty fifty but if I lock my door. Can you believe that?

00:37:08.97
Al
50 50 whether they remember to lock their hotel door The devil Oh, yeah the latch

00:37:09.78
Buddy
Wow.

00:37:11.26
Keith
So stupid, man. Oh my God.

00:37:13.19
Buddy
Wow.

00:37:13.46
Keith
not Not just lock it, but you got to put that thing on it. That like that clamp, the devil, well, the clamp or whatever it is. a You know, they used to have those chain ones, but they're ridiculous, stupid.

00:37:25.28
Al
And then I'm gonna refer back to what buddy was talking about earlier um People are used to getting like scam calls and stuff but In these like hotel and vacation spots, people will claim to be staff.

00:37:42.09
Al
You know, you can get robbed and Lord knows what else from people who are claiming to be staff of a place you've never been for before, because how are you going to know? And that's something like if people travel outside of the country for the holiday, people go to Mexico.

00:37:55.92
Al
I don't, I hope that's all I have to say. Mexico is not the safest place on the planet. So like, Same way somebody would call you in a scam call, they're going to rush you. They're going to tell you, on this, this, that, and the other. You need to do this right away.

00:38:10.44
Al
um People will imitate employees to your vacation destination, and you end up in the same situation. It's it's crazy. these These guys are creative, and they only get more creative as they go on.

00:38:25.07
Keith
Yeah, i I've had a, not really a rule, but just a way of, of with with my, ah ah what am trying to say here, my my money security, let's put it that way.

00:38:38.06
Al
Mm-hmm.

00:38:38.06
Keith
You know, as far as credit cards and and online and all this other stuff is, if somebody calls me, if somebody if somebody approaches me, calls me, contacts me, I'm not interested.

00:38:49.85
Keith
Yeah. If somebody texts me or calls me and says, we have a problem with your bank, blah, blah, blah. I'm not interested. I mean, I'm interested. I'm going to go find on my find out my own. I'm not interested in this person.

00:39:00.65
Keith
I'm not interested in this action. If I'm in a hotel room and somebody comes and knocks the door and says they work for the hotel, I'm not interested. and That doesn't mean I'm not going to talk to them through the door, call down to the the office and find out what's going on.

00:39:07.78
Al
Mm-hmm.

00:39:13.65
Keith
I'm not interested in in that situation right there because I didn't do the, do the, uh, the approach I didn't, you know, do, you Hey, I need you to come up here and and handle this, or, Hey, I need you to check and see if my bank account is overdrawn or this and that.

00:39:28.70
Keith
If somebody is contacting me, I automatically just assume they're not that they're not the right people. They're not the actual people. So i guess I'm not saying it very eloquently, but The easiest way for me to say this is that anybody trying to approach me, I'm not interested in that person at all or what they have to say, what they want to do or what they want or need. It doesn't make a difference to me.

00:39:50.73
Keith
If I'm interested in the the subject, whatever it is you're talking about, i will then take by myself to go and research it. I'll call the bank, call the office, do whatever I need to do at that point because I want to make sure I'm talking to the right people.

00:40:02.83
Keith
Does that make sense?

00:40:04.84
Al
No, yeah. No, 100%. And I know you're you were talking about you know moving with your money a little bit differently. and Did you guys know that especially especially around the holiday times, these big purchases that everybody makes, that your credit card is a lot safer to use than your debit card and not a lot of people know that?

00:40:25.20
Keith
Oh, do tell.

00:40:26.31
Buddy
Yes.

00:40:27.66
Al
So you said yes as in you do know or yes as you would also like me to tell because I'm

00:40:32.25
Keith
and no no, I don't know. I want you to tell me.

00:40:33.70
Buddy
Well, yeah, I mean, yeah I guess I do know and i had to learn from experience, ah but I don't even travel with a debit card or credit card.

00:40:34.21
Keith
Yeah.

00:40:38.42
Al
Right. Yeah,

00:40:42.15
Buddy
I'll buy a prepaid credit card or maybe three or four of them and I'll chunk them down to where, you know, the your visa check cards or whatever. You know, usually get them from their banks ah because I have been traveling before and used a credit card and it got compromised.

00:40:50.89
Al
yeah that's pretty smart.

00:40:58.51
Buddy
And then what do you do then? You know, go to your debit card. Okay, well, then I had to use my debit card and go out of pocket. But and then it happens. ah it It actually happened while i was traveling on the government credit card.

00:41:10.71
Buddy
So, you know, luckily they got on it pretty lickety split, but, you know, it's it's it's hat it it's a thing for sure.

00:41:18.80
Al
Well, yeah. So think think about it and and as simply as you possibly can. All right. When you guys, when you buy something with a credit card versus your debit card, then how does that money come out? Right.

00:41:29.30
Al
If you buy it with a credit card, the bank's money gets used first. If you buy with a debit card, that's straight from your checking account. Right. So if you were like doing a bunch of online shopping, you're already going to spend the money.

00:41:42.39
Al
The problem is people are afraid of credit cards and running up all this debt. I mean, if you're smart about it, like, um it's, it's really should be a no brainer, right? Cause with fraud, right? If you pay for something with a debit card, that's, that comes from the bank's, the bank's money, right? Quote unquote, you can't see it. I'm doing air quotes here.

00:42:03.51
Al
That comes from the bank's money. But if you, something happens and a fraud, like something fraudulent happens, it comes with your debit card. It comes directly out of your checking account right away. Your actual money is gone. And then you're relying on the the bank,

00:42:17.82
Al
to give it back to you. So a lot of people don't think about that, especially when these big purchases come out for the holidays, because everybody knows that this is when people spend the most money, whether it's food, travel, gifts, this would be the time to use your credit cards rather than your debit cards. It's just safer.

00:42:36.65
Buddy
Yeah.

00:42:36.65
Keith
That makes a lot of sense.

00:42:36.73
Buddy
I think I meant, I think I mentioned it earlier. i had a hell of a time in Mexico, you know, man, um don't remember the year 2014, 13, something like that.

00:42:47.23
Buddy
And I wish I would have been there because ah obviously i had a great time and it was on a purchase that I, that I purchased just something online. was laying in bed, got on Amazon, uh, surfing around, looking at some other stuff that, you know, and, and I just want to say this, a lot of the stuff you see on the social media ads out there, you know, the Tik TOK stuff stores, I think that's a little different, but like your social media stuff, if it looks too good to be true, it is too good to be true.

00:43:13.51
Buddy
And you're going to, you're going to go out there and think you bought, it you know, really cool, you know, whatever, and it's never going to come. You're going to get charged for it.

00:43:21.13
Jeremy
i

00:43:22.03
Buddy
And it's going to, it's not going to show.

00:43:24.09
Jeremy
yeah i have told everybody, you know, you see ads and stuff on Facebook or whatever, and you're like, oh, that's great. And it leads you to the to the link. and it's and And unfortunately, my wife fell victim to that. She thought she was ordering whatever it was.

00:43:40.26
Jeremy
And what came was this little trinket. It was basically a, I don't know, it was like a piece of plastic or something. And we were like, I wonder when that one package is going to get here. And I started thinking about it and I was like,

00:43:54.74
Jeremy
you know what, let me look at this package. And I went and I looked at the where it came from and everything, and it was whatever money she spent and the thing that came were two very, very different things.

00:44:08.41
Jeremy
So if she sees something on a social media website that she likes or whatever, I'm like, stop. Don't do that. Let's go look at Amazon or, you know, go to the, like the actual official website.

00:44:21.84
Jeremy
That way you have a little bit less of a chance of getting scammed.

00:44:27.98
Al
Yeah, and this is another one of those things too where it's like nobody's telling you don't buy from the TikTok shop. Everybody is trying to tell you be careful about what you buy from the TikTok shop. Like Buddy said, it looks too good to be true, it's probably too good to be true.

00:44:44.02
Jeremy
Yeah, if you see a Facebook ad that says that there you can get five Patagonia shirts for $1.50, probably not realistic.

00:44:55.25
Al
it's No, it's a fair point. It's the same thing with, ah what is it called? and but We used to call it Timu. It turns out it's called Temu. you guys know that?

00:45:04.69
Jeremy
Yeah, yeah.

00:45:04.74
Keith
I did not know that. So I call it Timu.

00:45:06.02
Buddy
this That's where I buy all my tourniquets from.

00:45:07.30
Al
Yeah.

00:45:08.79
Buddy
Here go again.

00:45:09.54
Al
yeah

00:45:09.70
Jeremy
Ha ha ha ha ha.

00:45:11.07
Keith
So, so, so is it Vever or Vivor?

00:45:15.79
Al
I don't even know what that is. Yeah.

00:45:17.27
Keith
Vever?

00:45:18.86
Jeremy
Oh, beaver.

00:45:19.15
Keith
Really? Vever. Not Beaver. Vever. V-E-V-O-R.

00:45:24.58
Buddy
Here we go again. here we go again

00:45:26.39
Keith
Damn, Jeremy, where are you going, man?

00:45:28.91
Jeremy
It is what it is, man. It is what it is.

00:45:33.49
Al
Take a tactical boss, brother. It's all right.

00:45:35.27
Jeremy
i'm i'm I'm on this this and cold and flu meds. like I can't help it. My face is flushed.

00:45:38.86
Keith
Mm-hmm.

00:45:41.40
Al
You know, um back to the credit card and debit card thing with the holiday stuff. um We had talked about earlier that a lot of people do all their shopping online, which if you're buying online, that package has to then get delivered. Right.

00:45:56.56
Al
And having packages delivered from your doorstep has been a huge thing. And it know it only increases during the holidays as well.

00:46:06.99
Buddy
Yeah, it seems to be, tis the season. ah i've I've actually seen in my neighborhood, I live in a fairly good neighborhood, but I've seen strange cars following around the, oh,

00:46:22.18
Buddy
ah your FedEx guy or your Amazon guy. And, you know, they'll clear one block and go and then all of a sudden these people show up at the next block. So it's been a thing in my neighborhood for sure.

00:46:34.04
Keith
Dude, there's videos on YouTube with a FedEx guy walking up to the, or girl walking up to the door and another person walking up like right behind them and taking the package and walking right off with it after they just put it up there.

00:46:45.68
Keith
There's actually one video where a FedEx guy like jumps them and like gets the package back.

00:46:46.49
Al
I saw that, yeah.

00:46:51.73
Keith
You seen that one?

00:46:53.55
Al
i have I've seen the one where you you were talking about where she, i believe it black lady, she like sets the package down, boom, package gets snatched before she even like takes the photo.

00:47:01.71
Keith
Yeah. Right.

00:47:03.79
Al
And then the ladies on the door cam like, what happened? She's like, ah somebody just took your package.

00:47:10.09
Keith
Yeah. They're out there, man. And they don't, they're, they're, they're fearless. These people.

00:47:15.75
Al
Yeah, I'd say for, i mean, people are always saying like, oh, I have cameras outside. and The camera doesn't always help. And it definitely doesn't stop your package that's already gone.

00:47:26.73
Al
You know, like it doesn't stop. It just shows you who took it. Maybe but the package is gone. So, I mean, we have, we have those Amazon locker hubs now too.

00:47:40.36
Al
mean, i don't know. i don't know of any cases of people breaking into those. All i know is you get a little closer to one, at least it's like in a locked, like actual box. you know what i mean?

00:47:50.98
Jeremy
lot of urban areas have those.

00:47:52.53
Keith
I like those. i think they're pretty cool. Just i just for me, every time I've seen or used one, it's been in a kind of a bad area. So there's usually like people standing all around it and you're like, oh shit, man, I gotta get, you know, go get my package. You're going to be asking me for money, this and that, you know, but a lot of apartments are using them now too.

00:48:08.26
Keith
Like a real nice high-end departments have them.

00:48:10.95
Jeremy
yeah

00:48:11.31
Al
Yeah. And I've seen, I like when people build their like own parcel box, you know what i mean? Like they have that like drop box that you can only get in one way. So the package can only get dropped in unless you have like the key for all that stuff.

00:48:22.36
Al
Is it foolproof? No. But does it make it less likely to get your stuff stolen? Yeah.

00:48:28.70
Keith
Exactly. like I'm actually going to be building, I've got, I'm writing up plans for one for myself. I mean, I'm out, I'm out the middle of nowhere, but my, you know, my drivers, they got to come all way down and they got to get out, walk through past all the, the birds and the chickens and the turkeys and the dogs and, you know, all way up to the porch and drop shit off. but It's just easier for them. so I'm going to make a nice place where they can just put stuff on. going covered and everything.

00:48:50.16
Keith
But I'm hoping that, uh, that will also be, you know, keep this stuff safe as well. Like if we're not home or if we're out and they deliver something, you know.

00:48:56.93
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:48:59.31
Jeremy
What are you going to make it out of?

00:49:01.70
Keith
I'm surrounded by oak trees and I'm not buying wood. So yeah, oak trees go on my mill.

00:49:05.46
Jeremy
Okay.

00:49:07.86
Keith
Mill turns into a dimensional lumber and lumber gets built into stuff.

00:49:12.37
Al
You got a mill, eh?

00:49:14.59
Keith
I do.

00:49:15.70
Al
Man, that's... that Some people are God's favorite, I'm telling you.

00:49:20.12
Jeremy
Speak. Speak your envy, brother. Speak your envy.

00:49:23.22
Keith
It's a lot of work, man.

00:49:23.78
Al
No, no, no. Everybody has their own individual blessings, and that's all right.

00:49:24.92
Keith
It's a lot of labor.

00:49:27.26
Al
And I have my own. So is being envious is is no good to me.

00:49:32.49
Keith
it's It is far easier to go to the store and buy dimensional lumber than it is to cut a tree down, cut it up, skid it, get it up onto a machine and then cut it down. Then wait for it to dry.

00:49:43.23
Keith
It's a lot. It's heavy, heavy, heavy labor.

00:49:45.38
Al
But you feel so manly doing it.

00:49:45.76
Keith
But, but. Oh, I love it. I love every, I, like I stand, I stand taller when I'm using the machine. It's like, you know, it's like, I don't know. I feel like my beard is longer.

00:49:56.04
Keith
It's just awesome.

00:49:56.60
Jeremy
Nice.

00:49:57.63
Keith
Yeah.

00:49:57.84
Jeremy
Nice.

00:49:57.87
Keith
Yeah.

00:49:59.93
Buddy
So that's my problem.

00:50:00.04
Jeremy
Nice.

00:50:01.58
Buddy
I need to get one, yeah.

00:50:02.02
Keith
That's it. Get a meal. Yeah.

00:50:04.10
Jeremy
a beard.

00:50:04.36
Al
Just chop some wood, man. You're feeling down. Chop some wood.

00:50:07.70
Jeremy
That's a great workout. Have you ever like cut wood just to work out?

00:50:13.44
Jeremy
Or am I, or am i the only weirdo?

00:50:13.43
Al
No.

00:50:14.37
Keith
No, it's, it's hard, man. You're using an ax over and over again. You see people on videos doing it.

00:50:19.26
Al
ah

00:50:19.25
Keith
It's really hard.

00:50:20.10
Jeremy
Dude, it is.

00:50:20.29
Al
This guy's Captain America over here. He's ripping pieces of wood with his bare hands.

00:50:22.04
Jeremy
this

00:50:24.68
Jeremy
Well, I, I, so i had to cut the wood anyways. and i And I hadn't gotten my workout in in several days. And I'm like, I'm going to go cut this fucking wood. I'm going do this. And I'm out there. I was day drinking, I think. And something about beers and an axe and just jamming out to Pearl Jam. it just I was living my own meme.

00:50:44.41
Jeremy
I'm just out there swinging an axe and cutting wood. And I'm sweating. And I was like, Jesus, Lord, it is hot. Why am I doing this?

00:50:54.35
Al
Gosh.

00:50:54.85
Jeremy
I think I was wearing my Ranger panties at that day, too. Yeah. Yeah, I was disguised.

00:50:58.17
Al
Was there anything else to wear when you do stuff like that?

00:51:00.66
Jeremy
Hell yes. Guys out, thighs out, man.

00:51:03.21
Al
Before we, if you, I don't know if you're going to dive anymore into this. One of my last statements on this whole holiday travel security thing was, um, just cause I know I will get off track so fast. Just especially talking to guys like yourself, man, we can go forever on God knows what.

00:51:21.15
Al
Um, I mentioned this a little bit earlier as well. You don't have to live your life scared and paranoid, you know? And I tried it, and like my family and stuff, I explained this to him probably on a daily.

00:51:35.20
Al
You just have to stop moving on autopilot. You know what i mean? Hands up, your eyes are free. Don't rush, move like things actually matter. And then it it will...

00:51:47.52
Al
that alone will shut down so much nonsense and and keep you from being a target. Like it's just, especially during the holiday season, not only, but in your day-to-day life, but the holiday season, if not, uh, any, any time else.

00:51:59.99
Keith
That's a great point. Moving on autopilot. It's that's a good point right there. That explains everything.

00:52:06.39
Jeremy
Yeah, and I will add to that, um not wandering in the store, having purpose, doing what you got to do, and then getting out. And also, I've noticed an increase of people, like i wear i wear the open ear headset, so I can still hear.

00:52:22.60
Jeremy
and But when I'm in a store, I'm not jamming out to music and doing that kind of thing. A lot of people... Um, I have found more and more are wearing the over the ear, um you know, headphones and, you know, they're in the store and they're just spaced, you know, even in the employees, I noticed a lot of them have earbuds in and they're just jamming out and doing what they got to do at work.

00:52:45.75
Jeremy
Well, and down in El Paso, Texas, when we were down there for the Academy, that's when that, uh, Walmart got shot up and, um, I started thinking about that and I'm like, how did these, how did these people not, you know, really know what was going on Like, how do you not know, especially in a town like El Paso, Texas, how do you not know what gunfire sounds like at that point?

00:53:10.08
Jeremy
And, you know, some people were like, yeah, I was wearing my headphones and I heard something that sounded like fireworks. Why the hell would somebody have fireworks inside of a Walmart going off?

00:53:19.28
Al
Dude, that's such a great point.

00:53:19.42
Jeremy
You know,

00:53:21.51
Al
Like the the headphone thing, like there's a brand called Shox. um I'm about to get some.

00:53:28.44
Jeremy
I'm wearing them right now.

00:53:28.94
Al
Like, oh man, they're amazing.

00:53:29.64
Jeremy
I'm literally wearing them.

00:53:32.15
Al
I borrowed some, but the that open ear thing, if you're not going to buy them or if you don't have it, man, take your earbuds out before you get out of the car.

00:53:42.85
Al
Right then and there, people are like, yep, that guy's not paying attention. Nope. Got them. Easy.

00:53:48.76
Jeremy
Yep. Yep. I, we, uh, both me and my wife have shocks. Um, we happened to notice them, uh, in a place in New Mexico and my wife really liked them because back then we were still running, um, long distance and, uh, they're waterproof up to a point.

00:54:05.12
Jeremy
These ones that I have, you can actually swim in them. Um, But they're they're great because you can still hear everything going on around you. um But if you had to take a call or something like that, or if you wanted to, say, listen to a podcast really low, like low volume, and still maintain situational awareness around you, that's they're great for that.

00:54:26.97
Keith
So that's those, um, those ones that the, uh, they kind of like bone something another where they, okay.

00:54:27.37
Al
Thank you.

00:54:32.73
Jeremy
Yeah, bone conduction.

00:54:34.70
Keith
it's a bone conduction. So do you actually hear the good clarity of your music or whatever else in it? I mean, do you get good sound out of them?

00:54:40.45
Jeremy
Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah. know And i even though i I have hearing aids and I'm supposed to wear the hearing aids, I can't stand having anything in my ears.

00:54:51.23
Jeremy
But um my hearing aids happen to be Bluetooth. The problem is is that there's a lot of amplification of everything around you at the same time a Bluetooth signal is trying to come in.

00:55:03.18
Jeremy
I can wear these, and Missy wears them, and we can you can wear them all day long. They're super comfortable. um But you still have all of your situational sound around you.

00:55:13.92
Jeremy
And if you had to take a call, you know, or, you know, do whatever, you can do that. Now, you may look crazy walking through a store talking to the air, um but you you can hear, you know, really well with them.

00:55:27.10
Jeremy
um And I have found that you know during runs, um these actually they they don't ride up on your neck. they don't They didn't bother me you know when I'm running. So I like them a lot. And there's a bunch of different you know models and brands, but this one is SHOKZ Shoxx.

00:55:48.17
Al
Yeah, they have um their initial brand or their initial one and they have like a new, like ah like a two or something.

00:55:54.63
Jeremy
Yeah, these are the Shox Mini waterproof.

00:55:59.35
Al
Yeah, those things are, there they're awesome.

00:56:02.05
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:56:02.49
Al
And that's one of those like keeping your hands free because that's how like you see it during the holidays, man.

00:56:05.01
Jeremy
Mm-hmm.

00:56:07.84
Al
There's a bump up up up on the phone. Well, they have this. They have this. Well, what if she doesn't like this? but Blah, blah, One hand on the phone, the other hand on the car and not paying attention to anything else. Kids screaming the whole night.

00:56:17.58
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:56:17.87
Al
Um, that's yeah. Hands-free. And like the, those headphones, like as soon as I saw my buddy wearing them, I tried them on, he did the music and you can hear it.

00:56:26.67
Jeremy
Oh, dude.

00:56:27.48
Al
People on the outside can't hear it, but you still have your, you know, you still have your, your, um, your situational awareness about you.

00:56:29.38
Jeremy
Mm-hmm.

00:56:35.85
Jeremy
Yep.

00:56:35.97
Al
And in, especially in my industry, like I have to have them and Govex, Govex got a good deal on them.

00:56:40.69
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:56:43.26
Jeremy
Oh, yeah. Yeah, GovX is a great website. But, you know, you were talking about people being, like, completely face-diving into their phone, oblivious to the universe.

00:56:55.02
Jeremy
The worst... I would say just within the year, the worst case I've ever seen of that is being in Manhattan in New York City and seeing the people walking like zombies you know down the street. And the only thing that they're focused on clearly wasn't me trying to turn.

00:57:11.73
Jeremy
It was the stupid phone right directly in front of their face. you know I'm literally talking about thousands upon thousands of people just walking down the street, barreling their way through New York City. The only thing that they knew was when it was directly in front of their face.

00:57:24.77
Jeremy
And it just drives me crazy when I see it.

00:57:27.39
Al
Brother, those are the same people are like, New York's such a beautiful place. Like, I love it. How do you know?

00:57:32.12
Jeremy
Please.

00:57:32.78
Al
You don't you don't see it. Yeah.

00:57:35.57
Jeremy
My family in New York has tried to get me to move there. I'm like, you're out of your skull. There is no way in hell I would ever move up there.

00:57:44.40
Buddy
Well, our our favorite comrade is going to take care of a lot of that stuff. So I'm, I'm, I got some popcorn popping to just watch this whole thing fall.

00:57:48.11
Jeremy
Oh my God, dude.

00:57:54.67
Buddy
I lived there for a while.

00:57:55.05
Jeremy
I'm telling you, man.

00:57:55.87
Buddy
and And like I've said several times on the, yeah, I'm, up

00:57:58.09
Jeremy
Just send the meteor. Just send it. Just send it.

00:58:00.43
Al
No, I've lived in a few few different major cities and new no way, no way. 29.

00:58:07.40
Buddy
I keep waiting for the wall to go around it and it's snake Plisskins is, is, uh,

00:58:07.56
Jeremy
No.

00:58:14.37
Buddy
I don't know if you guys, there's Escape from New York. I don't know if you have seen that.

00:58:17.01
Jeremy
Oh my gosh, dude. You just aged yourself so bad.

00:58:19.69
Buddy
ah

00:58:20.07
Keith
there's no There's no way that Al knows that.

00:58:22.40
Buddy
No, probably not, but.

00:58:23.58
Jeremy
Wait, Al, how old are you?

00:58:24.10
Keith
Nope. 29.

00:58:25.75
Al
ah twenty nine

00:58:26.39
Keith
twenty nine

00:58:27.21
Jeremy
Oh my gosh, dude.

00:58:28.70
Keith
He doesn't know it.

00:58:29.81
Buddy
He's got, go watch Escape from New York.

00:58:32.61
Keith
Not the second one, not the third or fourth or fifth, whatever else they made.

00:58:34.31
Jeremy
No.

00:58:34.55
Buddy
Yeah, the first one, because it, yeah, yeah.

00:58:35.45
Keith
The first one, only the first one.

00:58:37.08
Jeremy
Kurt Russell. Great movie.

00:58:40.06
Al
I feel like I have seen that.

00:58:40.11
Jeremy
So good.

00:58:40.18
Keith
Snake Plissken is my hero.

00:58:42.52
Al
Hold on.

00:58:42.85
Keith
Have you, were have you really?

00:58:44.57
Al
i and ah I used to watch a lot of TV with my grandparents growing up.

00:58:48.00
Jeremy
just There's just something about ah man's man with a mullet and an eye patch. Jeans that are just way too tight with damn near didn damn near knee-high boots and a shitty tank top.

00:58:57.18
Buddy
yeah No, they fit just right. They fit just right.

00:59:02.69
Jeremy
like

00:59:02.99
Al
Yep. You know what? I have seen this. I have it on. i So I have a collection of VHS tapes and i had this is one of them.

00:59:09.84
Jeremy
Wow. Very impressive.

00:59:12.24
Keith
That is impressive.

00:59:12.84
Buddy
yeah

00:59:12.96
Keith
Yes, I'll say that.

00:59:13.93
Al
Yes, this is one of them.

00:59:14.61
Jeremy
Yeah.

00:59:15.60
Buddy
Yeah. score so

00:59:16.27
Al
specifically remember this guy.

00:59:18.02
Buddy
You scored some cool points. All right.

00:59:21.23
Al
Thank you. hey I also have the original Twister in there.

00:59:21.52
Keith
correct

00:59:23.35
Al
It's one of my favorites.

00:59:24.26
Buddy
Oh, yeah.

00:59:24.35
Jeremy
Wow, yeah.

00:59:24.56
Keith
Oh, yeah.

00:59:25.98
Buddy
Now you there you go.

00:59:28.46
Al
So hopefully I brought my credit up a little bit on the podcast here.

00:59:28.72
Jeremy
Talking talking that habla.

00:59:31.83
Buddy
Street creds are high now.

00:59:31.87
Jeremy
Talking that habla. Nice.

00:59:36.30
Buddy
So what what else do you want to touch touch on with the the holiday madness that we're all about to step into?

00:59:44.13
Al
Yeah. keep Keep your head up. Keep your head on a swivel is like the classic thing to say. um Don't think of it as like, oh my God, I need to be, you know, this blah, blah, blah, blah.

00:59:55.56
Al
Like, edge i want to make sure I'm safe. want to make sure my family's safe.

00:59:58.24
Keith
Thank you.

00:59:58.88
Al
You know, um if you're leaving your house for the holidays, just just set it up right. You know i mean? gll You'll be surprised. And i one of the things I say in some of these classes is,

01:00:11.67
Al
And bear with me is shut your mouth. Stop telling people what you're doing. Just be quiet.

01:00:18.90
Buddy
so yeah

01:00:19.06
Al
if if they If they don't, if they're not involved, they don't need to know because.

01:00:22.40
Jeremy
That is a great point.

01:00:22.44
Buddy
So I shouldn't go on and tell everybody that I'm going to grandma's house ah ah this weekend, you know?

01:00:29.05
Al
You never you'll hear that thing if you tell somebody a secret through you told three other people.

01:00:34.41
Buddy
Oh, yeah, yeah.

01:00:35.38
Al
So the amount of people that know somebody that have a friend who have an uncle who now knows your house is empty and now you're, boom, soft target.

01:00:44.07
Jeremy
Yep.

01:00:44.50
Al
No matter what you do, if they have absolute confirmation your house is empty, they don't care. Stop telling people where you're going if they don't need to know.

01:00:53.23
Jeremy
Yep.

01:00:54.81
Al
I mean, that's, and these are just basic stuff like that I would give it, like I would give this kind of advice to anybody, but I would say, And just like we said earlier, get off autopilot, get like, look and pay attention to stuff around you. It's the easiest thing you can do.

01:01:14.35
Keith
So um maybe maybe a last point, but let me ask you this. Are we looking at anything? is there any any kind of buzz out there going on about any type of threats as far as terrorism or sleeper cell? Anything that's you know a little bit little bit more, a little bigger than just your average you know theft and larceny?

01:01:37.78
Al
I would say is if you're in a major city, right? um Indianapolis is probably the one that I've heard about recently with all the criminal activity and the possible National Guard and stuff.

01:01:49.47
Al
um Coming from what I've known and what is neither confirmed nor denied or whatever, the amount of, we talked about sleeper cells and how easily these people are getting information, the amount of technology that's about to get sold in this holiday season is, is astronomical kids at three, four five years old are getting phones now. You know what I mean The, um every holiday season we sell as in the United States sells so much more technology every year. It only grows higher.

01:02:25.81
Al
You can look at the statistics, no need to bore you with that. It is only going to get worse, right? More information is going to get leaked more sensitive, uh,

01:02:36.69
Al
you know, your personal information as far as not your credit card, blah, blah, blah, but where you live, um, how many people are in your household, where have you traveled to blah, blah, blah, blah. blah And if you think it's all terrorist organizations, it's not.

01:02:50.35
Al
Okay. Um, that's That's always my biggest thing every year is every year we sell so much more technology, especially on the holidays, and nobody has any idea what these things are actually capable of and how they get used against you. So I always tell people to err on the side of caution for those things.

01:03:07.74
Al
That's just me.

01:03:08.06
Jeremy
Mm-hmm.

01:03:12.10
Jeremy
Yep.

01:03:12.24
Keith
Okay.

01:03:12.91
Buddy
Yeah, that's...

01:03:14.25
Keith
i

01:03:14.34
Jeremy
And I...

01:03:15.10
Keith
I was kind of thinking, I didn't realize you were going that direction, but that's outstanding. I never would have thought about that. You're right. More technology.

01:03:21.26
Al
Oh, my bad.

01:03:21.68
Keith
ah youth you you throw an ai You throw in you all these scammer groups that are out there, especially like in other countries where there're you know they're they're trying to get all your information from you and this and that.

01:03:34.25
Keith
I was thinking more of, uh, you know, large events and things that we might want to, you know, I guess really head on a swivel is really the only thing you can do. You're not going to stop from going to having fun.

01:03:45.49
Keith
You know, I mean, that's, you're going to go see light shows.

01:03:46.61
Al
Right.

01:03:48.27
Keith
You're going to go out and in do stuff for the holidays. It's going to happen. Uh, you're going to be at parties. I know that, um, they say every year, ah Family crime actually goes up because of, you know, libations, alcohol, that sort of stuff and emotions and stress and different types of things cause fights and that, that sort of stuff.

01:04:08.23
Keith
But I was thinking more in terms of like anything big out there. Is there any buzz on anything big that could happen? I know we just, we just packed a, uh, uh, a sleeper cell recently. Was it, were they in Florida? There was someplace that were planning on something big.

01:04:22.23
Keith
I think they were planning on assassination actually.

01:04:23.49
Buddy
what Well, they're, they're hitting them every day. The last one I got was two guys in Dearborn, Michigan that had ties to two guys in New Jersey. I just read that earlier, but I mean, Oh yeah.

01:04:33.93
Jeremy
Oh, Dearborn, say it ain't so.

01:04:36.81
Buddy
Imagine that.

01:04:36.78
Keith
laughter

01:04:37.43
Al
She's so cute.

01:04:37.85
Buddy
dearborn But I mean, seriously, you, you've got that threat to the homeland that's out there that I've talked about before. um You know, anytime you get into an, ah a large crowd or a large city that you're,

01:04:52.47
Buddy
your threat matrix go up, you know, the, your, your risk mitigation, you need to take that, you know, for, you know, don't go hang out downtown on, on New Year's Eve, you know, and unless you just, you don't care, you know, but if, if you want to stay out of trouble, you know, you don't go where trouble is, you know, the likelihood of somebody coming into your house on New Year's Eve is less than likelihood of you going downtown with a bunch of drunks and, and be a juicy target for, you know, terrorists and stuff. And,

01:05:22.41
Buddy
and a terrorist incident. and And they want to hit the big, juicy, soft targets that people who are out celebrating, they're they're doing their thing, ah they're drinking, having a good time, and then, bam, they're going to hit.

01:05:34.63
Buddy
you know They might not hit you, but they might hit the first responders that come in, and there's a whole there's a whole thing out there. But just you know like al said earlier, keep your head on a swivel, you know make sure that you you're doing the things.

01:05:46.96
Buddy
you know And just just don't put yourself in a situation to where

01:05:49.69
Keith
I guess if I'm going to get blowed up, I like to be drunk while it happens. It's just, know, I'm in sense.

01:05:54.45
Al
You know what? And yet now that you mentioned especially with we we saw everything that's going on with New York, they always have that big Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. And I've been kind of curious. and And as of today, actually, earlier when we were talking about going online over here is that's one of the things I would look into.

01:06:12.25
Al
I mean, not that anything is going to get blown up super big. It's going to be some big major event, but something is going to happen.

01:06:20.38
Jeremy
Yeah.

01:06:20.41
Buddy
Well, and there was a car bomb.

01:06:20.50
Al
Something is going to happen. You know what i mean

01:06:21.52
Jeremy
Well, I mean, we're getting a little prelude today.

01:06:25.04
Buddy
Well, yeah, there was a a car that blew up in the Bronx. I mean, was it just blew up or did, you know, did it have some help there?

01:06:28.38
Jeremy
yeah

01:06:28.60
Al
Oh, yeah.

01:06:32.85
Buddy
You know.

01:06:33.27
Keith
Well, I've been to the Macy's Day Parade a couple of times, actually, and I can tell you this. There is no place to escape. There's no place to run. There's no room to run. You are, they are packed in there.

01:06:43.33
Buddy
Like cattle.

01:06:43.34
Keith
You know, these, but oh yeah, it's, it's, it's really crazy, man.

01:06:44.31
Jeremy
Mm-hmm.

01:06:46.93
Keith
It's, if you have, you know, if you have any kind of anxieties, that's not a kind of thing you want to go to.

01:06:52.11
Buddy
Well, the same thing with the, when they do the tower, you know, the, the ball drop.

01:06:55.81
Keith
The ball drop.

01:06:57.10
Buddy
Yeah.

01:06:57.19
Keith
ah Oh yeah. Oh yeah.

01:06:58.38
Al
You

01:06:59.63
Buddy
Say how backwards, how backwards we are in Oklahoma, we, we instead of dropping the ball, they move it from the ground to, to the top.

01:06:59.94
Al
you know

01:07:07.73
Buddy
So it's something you're, you're like, after you've done that one in New York, you're looking at this, like, is this going in the wrong direction? Yeah.

01:07:14.63
Jeremy
it

01:07:16.73
Al
you it You were talking about ah how there's like, if you've been to the Macy's Day or Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade that there's nowhere to escape. And i i this is my favorite answer to give is people are like, well, what do we do if something happens?

01:07:29.57
Al
Hey, ah don't go. That's don't go.

01:07:34.42
Jeremy
Yeah.

01:07:34.64
Al
Hey, I feel like something might happen.

01:07:35.77
Jeremy
i think

01:07:35.76
Keith
Watch it on TV. I like that.

01:07:37.45
Jeremy
and think that's I think that's one of the good things about being a bit older now is I have no interest in going and doing any of that crap.

01:07:37.60
Al
Yeah. Watch it on TV, bro.

01:07:46.73
Jeremy
As a matter of fact, I want to get a doormat that says, please leave by nine. You know what I mean? Like, i

01:07:52.25
Keith
i like

01:07:52.91
Jeremy
i i have I would have no interest whatsoever. Even if I was visiting family in New York, I would not for the life of me go anywhere near that area. Because I've been i mean i've been there hundreds of times from the time I was a kid up to now.

01:08:08.81
Jeremy
I have no interest in it. Absolutely none. And you did touch on something. um i We take a lot of photos when we're on vacation. And I will say that um a lot of people post their vacation photos.

01:08:23.07
Jeremy
While they're on vacation.

01:08:25.79
Al
Ooh, yep.

01:08:26.01
Jeremy
That's, that's, it's not a great, ah like when we were on this last cruise, we had people who were actively at the house all the time.

01:08:26.50
Al
I know where you're going.

01:08:35.89
Jeremy
We posted pictures and videos of where we were at with, you know, note with the knowledge that we have people at the house actively watching the house, you know, taking care of the house. And we also have our three autistic dogs.

01:08:49.96
Jeremy
But it is a terrible idea that if you don't have anybody at home, you know, let's say, especially single girls, single women, you're out there and you're posting your stuff and you people who know you, well, they're not all great.

01:09:07.32
Jeremy
Not everyone is a great person. You know, we want to have a benefit of the doubt human beings, but good Lord. Human beings are capable, absolutely deplorable shit. And they're going go break into your house. They're going to take your stuff and possibly set it up for when you get back, they can take advantage of you too.

01:09:25.83
Jeremy
You know, kind of like the they always tell you if you find a dollar bill or whatever near your vehicle, don't touch it or whatever. What they don't talk about is how people have actually taken and put adhesive on their door handles and laced it with fentanyl.

01:09:38.94
Jeremy
You know, they don't talk about, you know, you open up the door and there's something there waiting for you You know, they they they don't talk about those things. um But man, so I would just tell everybody, if you're on vacation and you don't have anybody actively taking care of your home and your stuff, um don't post anything until you get back, you know, and you've made sure that everything in life is okay.

01:10:01.93
Keith
I'm a fan of, uh, I'm sorry, Alf cutting off.

01:10:04.62
Al
No, you're good.

01:10:04.60
Keith
I'm, I'm, I'm a fan of, uh, neighborhood watch and not, and not the movie cause the movie was great.

01:10:05.15
Al
You're good.

01:10:10.43
Keith
Uh, but no a neighborhood watch. I I'm a fan of it. It's a, it's a mag, you know, it's a mag type of group, but you know, I think that if you get together with some of your neighbors, Hey, let's look after each other, you know, for the holiday season, let's keep an eye on some, maybe strange vehicles are in town or people, you know, faces we don't notice or things like that. And,

01:10:29.12
Keith
Maybe get get your neighbor's numbers. Hey, you can make some friends or if anything, you know, but but it's always good to know what's going on.

01:10:35.93
Jeremy
Yeah, because that Karen down the street is definitely involved in everybody's stuff.

01:10:41.38
Al
Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah. That was you. should You should be aware you should never be too nosy because that's how you end up getting involved in the things you don't want to get involved. ah We were speaking of the neighborhood stuff. There's an app that I use. I don't know if you guys it's the citizen app.

01:10:58.96
Al
You guys aware of that?

01:11:00.28
Keith
I've never heard of it.

01:11:00.82
Buddy
Yeah, I don't use Citizen.

01:11:00.90
Keith
so Tell us about it.

01:11:03.18
Buddy
I use Neighborhood, and there's another one I use. I can't – it's not – but yeah, it's similar.

01:11:06.64
Al
Yeah. So I use this app and you could pay for it. I use the free version of it. called citizen spelled exactly how sounds. Um, and it will like give you live updates on like things that's happening. Like, Hey, reports of shots fired three blocks away from you or car theft or blah, blah, blah.

01:11:24.67
Al
And if somebody else around is also has the citizen app, it'll show up like, Hey, you can pull up a live feed and everybody can watch your live feed about what's going on. Um,

01:11:36.33
Al
I like, I never really need the, the, anything past the free version. Cause it just allows you to listen to like the, the 911 call, the police scanner stuff. I don't need it. I just need to know what happened um or what is currently happening, but that's a really good way to just kind of keep in the know of what's going around in your neighborhood. And so you start seeing these like um burglaries or shots fired or XYZ stabbing, fighting or whatever.

01:12:04.57
Al
um probably best to avoid that area. And that's kind of what I use that app for, is if I know I'm going someplace and then I can pull up the citizen app and see all the historical stuff that happens in that area, not going there.

01:12:16.35
Al
So that's another good little, i guess, tool for the toolbox for you.

01:12:20.93
Keith
That's a, that's, that's a fantastic app. I've not seen it till just now. just looked it up while you were talking. I'll put it in the show notes and buddy, if you got the other one, I'll put that one the show notes too.

01:12:32.35
Buddy
Yeah, I'll send it to you.

01:12:32.49
Keith
That's great. i didn't know those existed. That's great.

01:12:35.43
Buddy
Yeah, and it's that's all, and I've talked about this before. and That's the importance of you know doing your area study. What he's talking about, he's he's talking about an area study. You know you need to know what's going on in in your area of operations and your area of interest. you know and And he's he's doing it like he's pretty much hit it right on the head about stuff you need to, you just got to be aware of what's going on. Use the tools available to you.

01:13:01.34
Buddy
instead just going out blind every day with your head up your ass.

01:13:05.51
Al
Yeah, and it's, I forget that like you guys are of like mind and background that like where I can say things like area studies or SEALs or you were said like 525. I was like, oh yeah.

01:13:17.30
Al
So if it sounds a little bit overcomplicated, it's because I'm so used to explaining this. People who have never ever in their life even thought about doing things like this.

01:13:28.19
Al
I'm just so used to that. So it's nice to hear you guys say, oh yeah, area study or all the other good stuff. It just feels, I feel at home over here.

01:13:35.78
Buddy
Well, we have Keith, you know, Keith will be lot of times he calls timeout and is like, you know, we'll, we'll throw an acronym out there and it's like, Hey, tell us this.

01:13:36.56
Keith
That's awesome.

01:13:40.65
Keith
Yeah. Oh, yeah.

01:13:43.87
Buddy
And then Jeremy just, you know, what if it was five and 25? I'm like, Oh yeah. Okay. I forget, but it's, it's good that,

01:13:50.20
Keith
Well, I was doing a DN on a seven down on flyby, and I don't even know what happened to, you know, Buzz was just going through my, you know, my situation, and 78 was overall by 85.

01:13:53.22
Jeremy
Oh my gosh.

01:13:53.40
Al
laughter laughter

01:13:54.99
Jeremy
yeah

01:14:01.75
Keith
And I'm like, all right, stop.

01:14:02.02
Jeremy
oh my gosh

01:14:03.77
Keith
Stop.

01:14:04.57
Jeremy
I have so, i have so many stories about people.

01:14:05.17
Keith
Stop. You know, I got a z seventy one you know, and whatever. Just stop.

01:14:11.24
Jeremy
i have I have great stories about people trying, who have absolutely no idea what you're talking about, but they will slide up into that conversation just like your DMs and act like they really, really know what you're talking about.

01:14:21.02
Al
Thank you.

01:14:27.51
Jeremy
And I, long story short, this was probably about 20 plus years ago. i was hanging out with my cousins in New York and there was a guy And he would just had these fantastical stories and they were like, dude, you got to come up with something. I was like, yeah, man.

01:14:41.47
Jeremy
So we're getting ready to do do a jump. we We're on a c one thirty and the aircraft got struck by lightning and it came magnetized. And when we exited the aircraft, everybody was getting stuck to the side of the airplane and everybody's like, whoa, dude. And this guy's like, yeah, man, I've heard of that. And i was like, shut your face, dude. That's never happened in the history of ever get the hell out of here.

01:15:02.51
Keith
That would be cool.

01:15:02.58
Al
I was just about to say, yeah, throw in throwing some some bowl in there and see who it is. You could quickly tell who's who.

01:15:06.84
Jeremy
Oh my gosh, dude. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Yeah. I love that kind of stuff.

01:15:12.90
Al
I think I had one recently. I think I used, I didn't even use it in the proper way. I said something and I just out loud, was just like, bam, sis. And nobody laughed.

01:15:24.11
Al
I'm just like, oh, yeah okay, you guys don't get it It's fine. It's fine. like Don't worry about it It's just something.

01:15:29.47
Jeremy
Yeah.

01:15:30.29
Keith
I didn't get it and none of our listeners will explain, please.

01:15:33.05
Jeremy
Uh, yeah.

01:15:35.33
Al
Oh man, heart, heart. Don't, don't judge me. All right. There's always one I miss. Hold on. Just, just give me like half a second, man. and um How would you explain it? It's an it's a military acronym, but like, I don't, I don't know how you would explain it to somebody who hasn't already gone through it.

01:15:53.59
Jeremy
ah Now you're going to have to remind me exactly of the BAMSES.

01:15:58.44
Al
Okay. ah That's, No. Okay. So yeah, yeah, yeah, it's fine. um So BAMCIS, right? Marine Corps small unit stuff, right? So it's it's basically how you execute any kind of process, right? So BAMCIS, B-A-M-C-I-S.

01:16:13.91
Jeremy
oh

01:16:14.19
Al
So you have the beginning planning, you arrange your recon for the plan, you make the recon for the plan, you actually, you complete the plan, you issue everybody's, order like issue the orders to everybody and then supervise.

01:16:14.63
Jeremy
Oh.

01:16:22.08
Jeremy
Okay.

01:16:27.64
Jeremy
We call that the troop leading procedures in the army.

01:16:28.08
Al
And then

01:16:30.52
Al
There you go. Okay, yeah.

01:16:31.21
Jeremy
Yeah.

01:16:32.23
Al
We always say supervise, most important step. So every time, like, what are you doing? Like, do them supervise. It's most important step.

01:16:38.05
Jeremy
Yeah.

01:16:38.09
Al
So it's just one of those things. But yeah, man, it's been forever since I had to thoroughly explain that somebody.

01:16:44.81
Jeremy
Yeah.

01:16:45.02
Keith
Oh my goodness.

01:16:45.09
Jeremy
We say, well, we say TLPs.

01:16:46.30
Keith
you You guys and your acronyms. It's crazy, man. I mean, it's it's crazy.

01:16:48.94
Jeremy
It's a whole language, man. i it's,

01:16:51.38
Al
Marines are dumb, man. You have to do it that way.

01:16:53.83
Jeremy
And you know what's interesting?

01:16:54.25
Keith
Why can't you just say, Hey, everybody know what you're doing? Good. Everybody get what you get. Let's go.

01:16:58.74
Al
Because you people lie.

01:16:58.91
Keith
That's it.

01:17:01.26
Jeremy
Yeah. Yeah.

01:17:03.48
Buddy
It's a thing.

01:17:04.12
Jeremy
You would be shocked, man. um And you know, your guy, that, I like that acronym. um Ours, the, it's almost exactly the same. It's receive the, receive the mission, issue a warning order, make your tentative plan, initiate movement, conduct recon, complete the plan, issue your operations order, and then supervise. It's pretty much the exact same thing.

01:17:25.44
Jeremy
We just don't use, we use TLPs versus BAMSs. So, yeah.

01:17:29.54
Al
Oh, you know, another one that actually pertains to this one is OODA loop.

01:17:32.76
Jeremy
Oh, yeah.

01:17:33.15
Al
I use OODA loop now.

01:17:34.56
Jeremy
Mm-hmm.

01:17:34.66
Al
I mean, all the time, like, and especially in our classes that, so OODA and then loop is like the physical act of looping around.

01:17:34.70
Jeremy
Yeah.

01:17:42.74
Jeremy
Mm-hmm.

01:17:43.09
Al
um That observe, orient, decide, and act. So you observe something going on, orient yourself. either to or like to it or away from it, decide what you're going to do and then actually doing it. That's the act part. That's that's a perfect example for what we're talking about today.

01:17:59.99
Jeremy
I remember the first time I heard that as a much younger soldier. And I looked at the guy and I was like, did you just make that up? ah yeah Is that a real word? he And he explained it. And i mean he's like, it's the OODA.

01:18:11.81
Jeremy
And I'm like, okay, you so you didn't just make this up? He's like, dude, it's called OODA loop. And this was, oh my gosh, this was Yeah,

01:18:17.92
Keith
i think I think we did ah ah an episode early on, Rhonda and I, early, early on, about OODA loop.

01:18:21.97
Jeremy
yeah we've, yeah, we talked about it.

01:18:23.01
Keith
I love OODA loop.

01:18:25.34
Al
You guys know PACE plans?

01:18:26.70
Jeremy
Oh yeah.

01:18:26.80
Al
pate PACE?

01:18:27.60
Jeremy
Oh yeah.

01:18:27.58
Keith
Yeah.

01:18:27.81
Al
Yeah, PACE is another super easy one.

01:18:30.94
Jeremy
Yeah.

01:18:31.19
Al
PACE plan, because assume we're going to have to explain it at some point, but your primary plan, your alternate plan, your contingency plan, and your emergency plan.

01:18:40.76
Jeremy
Yeah. And that actually goes into the exact topic that we're talking about today, you know, so.

01:18:44.72
Al
Yep.

01:18:45.49
Keith
I took my prescribed burn ah certification course this morning and there was a whole entire section just on pace.

01:18:52.77
Jeremy
Wow.

01:18:52.91
Keith
they they They take it pretty seriously.

01:18:55.00
Jeremy
That's interesting.

01:18:57.09
Buddy
Yeah, I think you need ah have an episode on that because that's, you have me, you know, you have my interests on it.

01:18:57.06
Keith
Yep.

01:19:04.18
Keith
Oh, it's, really it's really interesting stuff. and it really is on, on, on a controlled burning and ah forest clean, you know, clean the forest floors and and, that sort of thing. And it's, it's, it's pretty big. i mean, and every area has got one. You can go join a prescribed burn association if you want to and help them out.

01:19:21.50
Jeremy
except for California. and place

01:19:23.09
Keith
ah They probably don't. i don't know.

01:19:25.34
Jeremy
That place is, anyway.

01:19:27.35
Buddy
Yeah. Yeah.

01:19:27.52
Jeremy
But yeah, they actually do controlled burns here every year. um Some places twice a year, depending on the type of forestry that they have. I know on Fort Bragg, Fort Bragg burns, they do it different areas, but they do burn every single year.

01:19:43.42
Jeremy
So, because

01:19:44.26
Keith
Well, if you want to get practice in the in the OODA loop or even pace or or just head on a swivel, it's you that is all you're doing when you're when you're doing and you're out there.

01:19:55.47
Keith
You have got to be able to watch and observe and and act very quickly when you're in a prescribed burn because things happen very fast when fire is burning stuff.

01:20:05.10
Jeremy
Yeah, especially if you accidentally wander into one.

01:20:05.55
Keith
you know and You're trying to control it. Well, that yeah, that that too. yeah Yeah. I mean, you can have somebody pass out. you know, down the line and you see them go to, you go, you hit the ground you got to know what to do. You know, there's a whole process, a step.

01:20:20.78
Keith
It's the same thing with anything you do out there though, you know?

01:20:22.96
Jeremy
I would say the most the probably one of the most perfect examples besides you know your military and law enforcement is probably guys who are smoke jumpers and who do heavy equipment jumps into fire zones to actually fight forest fires.

01:20:41.49
Jeremy
ah Those guys are not only are they badass – um but they're jumping in enough equipment to be able to stay on the fire for like a significant amount of time.

01:20:54.25
Jeremy
And they're calling in aircraft, you know, to drop that, the the chemicals and the foam and the water. Those dudes are like, those guys are hardcore, man, but they have to constantly watch each other and watch their back because there's stuff that's out there in the forest that can start burning.

01:21:13.05
Jeremy
and it gets up in your nose and gets in your lungs, the next thing you know, you're on the forest floor and you're burning.

01:21:18.18
Buddy
yeah i like Yeah, I looked into it once upon a time.

01:21:18.51
Keith
Yeah.

01:21:18.68
Al
Kudos to those guys.

01:21:19.93
Jeremy
Yeah. there was

01:21:20.03
Keith
Yeah.

01:21:21.73
Buddy
And the the tribes out here in Oklahoma, we have we have our – they're not necessarily jumpers, but they'll they'll take them, truck them into places.

01:21:23.17
Keith
Nah, it's just too hard.

01:21:30.97
Buddy
And so they have their – yeah, yeah, we're bullshitting.

01:21:31.38
Jeremy
Yeah.

01:21:33.46
Keith
You realize all this has got to get cut, right?

01:21:36.01
Jeremy
What?

01:21:36.68
Keith
It has absolutely nothing to do with holidays ah holidays threat assessment or anything.

01:21:37.79
Buddy
We're bullshitting at this point.

01:21:40.95
Jeremy
Oh, no, this is good stuff.

01:21:41.73
Buddy
And I – And I do have some stuff online that we could, I could either talk about it or we could, and i I can keep it brief or we can just stick in a show note.

01:21:50.77
Keith
you're You're talking about right now at an hour and 22 minutes into this where.

01:21:53.73
Buddy
Yeah. If we got to cut a bunch of stuff, I got like five minutes of stuff to online stuff.

01:21:57.53
Keith
ah

01:21:58.79
Buddy
If you want to.

01:21:58.99
Al
You guys could put this into a snippet of like random tangents and just make a whole thing about it.

01:21:59.16
Keith
Well.

01:22:03.32
Jeremy
Oh, dude.

01:22:04.90
Buddy
Oh, if we, if we did, if we did one of those with a column.

01:22:09.88
Buddy
Oh, no, we're, we're,

01:22:10.32
Keith
Series part.

01:22:12.55
Al
it

01:22:13.26
Jeremy
We should do an episode of Buddy doing...

01:22:13.57
Buddy
but

01:22:16.19
Jeremy
ah

01:22:16.87
Buddy
uh oh that that would be a whole episode no we're talking you know bloopers reel if we did a bloopers thing it would be just uh i think we we might need to do one but yeah yeah but yeah i can either talk if i can either talk about the online stuff and or we could just put in the show notes either way

01:22:17.16
Jeremy
yeah

01:22:17.85
Keith
Oh yeah. Yeah.

01:22:19.52
Al
Yeah.

01:22:21.23
Keith
Yeah, the bloopers.

01:22:28.16
Jeremy
It would be about three days long.

01:22:39.42
Keith
Yeah, I think we're done.

01:22:40.86
Buddy
okay

01:22:41.27
Jeremy
Yeah, show notes.

01:22:42.52
Keith
I mean, we're for we're pretty long.

01:22:42.88
Al
It's been a pleasure, gentlemen.

01:22:44.24
Keith
Yeah. So let's just, let's, ah let's get Al out of here and, and, and thank him for being a great guest.

01:22:52.07
Jeremy
Yeah, it's not always like this. Yeah.

01:22:55.55
Buddy
Yeah.

01:22:55.61
Al
That's fine.

01:22:55.67
Buddy
Oh yeah.

01:22:56.95
Al
I'm hoping you guys want me to come back at some point and talk about some other cool stuff. You know, I get nervous for this kind of stuff, but it eventually goes OK, I think.

01:23:01.27
Jeremy
yeah

01:23:04.82
Jeremy
Yeah, absolutely.

01:23:05.19
Buddy
ah yeah

01:23:05.50
Jeremy
I'd like to know a little bit more about your Marine career and how that kind of bled into what you do in the civilian life.

01:23:12.06
Al
I would love to. And I'd love to tell you how the gap in my career really like drove me nuts and and pushed me back into this field. So,

01:23:20.62
Jeremy
Yeah.

01:23:23.19
Al
but yeah, I mean,

01:23:23.51
Keith
Take them out, buddy.

01:23:25.72
Buddy
All right. Well, I hope everybody learned a little bit about, ah you know, risk mitigation for the holiday season. And ah hopefully you take a couple of little tidbits and and nuggets that we threw at you today.

01:23:38.02
Buddy
And especially Al and and to thank him for his knowledge.

01:23:41.92
Keith
Well, was it was there any...

01:23:42.79
Buddy
Oh, yeah.

01:23:43.61
Keith
I'm sorry, Al, was there anything you wanted to... Like a website or anything you wanted to promote?

01:23:48.72
Al
Oh yeah. ah So

01:23:50.10
Keith
but and And I meant to, I didn't mean to cut you off, buddy, but I wanted to make sure he gets this in and then you can tell him out.

01:23:54.88
Buddy
Yeah.

01:23:56.17
Al
yeah. So our company is called Sodog Inc. You can find us at it's S-O-D-O-G.us.com. And then we have Sodog Training Services.

01:24:08.46
Al
It's all one big thing. SodogTrainingServices.com. And and I mean, if you're you're looking for training ah for any of this kind of stuff, I mean, we do all types. We do the firearms. We do trauma medicine. We do first aid.

01:24:21.81
Al
We have specialized classes. but kind of just do it all. um You can definitely hit us up on the training website. If you need services, that would be the regular Sodog Inc. website.

01:24:34.28
Al
And mean, my email should be on that website. If not, I got to talk to a guy. But europe everybody is welcome to always freely email me about anything, any questions they have. um It's actually me on the other line of there. So yeah, that's, I mean, that's the best way to do it.

01:24:52.79
Buddy
All right. That's a wrap.

01:24:53.80
Jeremy
Nice.

01:24:54.29
Buddy
That's

01:24:56.38
Keith
is Is it a wrap?

01:24:57.58
Buddy
a wrap.

01:24:58.59
Keith
Okay, i was i was talking when my mic was out.

01:24:58.77
Buddy
let's

01:25:01.59
Keith
ah Al, say that website one more time.

01:25:06.00
Al
So the training website is S-O-D-O-G www.sodog.us.com. And then if you Google Sodog Inc. or go to sodog.us.com,

01:25:18.49
Al
that is the security website. So you have services and you have training.

01:25:24.35
Keith
Okay, perfect. Al, thank you so much for coming on tonight. We're definitely going to have you back on in the future. We've got so many other things to talk about, but I think that we covered pretty much everything ah to keep all of our listeners safe over the holiday season. And again, thank you for coming on, man.

01:25:40.70
Al
Thank you guys for having me. I can't wait to come back. It's awesome.

My Prepper Brothers and Sisters…

… As the world settles into its holiday haze,

and last-minute shoppers bounce from stores and shops and registers, credit cards in hand, flinging PIN numbers and security codes.

Remember this:

Predators don’t get holidays off.

As Preppers… neither do we.

Tonight, you learned how they watch, how they choose, how they wait.

You learned how to carry yourself with presence,

how to move with intention,

how to keep your circle tight and your awareness wide.

And thanks to Alijandro from SODOG Security Services,

you got a look into the predator’s mindset.

The part most people never see until it’s too late.

But you’re not most people.

You prepare before danger appears.

So as you step out into these winter nights,

to the stores, the dinners and celebrations,

road trips and airports, and dark parking lots.

carry this mindset with you:

You are not prey.

You are practiced.

You are paying attention.

You are the defender of your space,

And your peace of mind.

Let everyone else get swept away by the season.

You’ll enjoy the warmth and wonder,

but you’ll do it with your head up

and your awareness sharp.

Stay Prepped… Stay Happy….

Thanks for Listening… And Goodnight…
